Shhhh. Don't tell my husband, but I packed my

5-pound kettlebell for our trip.

It is just a baby. It shouldn't be left home alone.

And I am on a roll KB-wise. It is small enough to where it won't make too much noise. I will cuddle it and keep it quiet.

Its big brothers will be fine home without me. The pink baby, well, she needs to go with Mama.

What's it worth to keep quiet?

I thought "5kg. that's quite heavy". then I realized - only 5lb? that's not so heavy.

I once brought my 15 pounder on a business trip (local - so I didn't have to fly). I always wonder what the people below me thought when I accidentally dropped it while doing "Around the Worlds"...

I had a bit of an incident at Schiphol (Amsterdam's airport) when I tried to get 3lb dumbbells through in my carry-on. The security guards definitely thought I was crazy for a) bringing weights on holiday and b) thinking that I could have them in my suitcase. We had to repack things, go back and check a bag with the dumbbells. If I had ever doubted DH's love and support, this proved it.

As an public service, I will let you know that you are allowed to bring sand-filled and soft sided weights in carry on bags, at least in the Netherlands, UK, Italy and a couple of other places (although security sometimes has to ask). I am definitely thinking about the weights that you can fill with water...

Starbelly, the weights you fill with water would have to have a volume of 100ml. to get on the plane with you! I wouldn't have thought that dumbells are not allowed (I wouldn't try because it's so hard to stay under the carry on weight) - makes sense though. Are bands considered weapons, too, BTW? I think DD got through with one in her carry on.

I'd never consider it my husband's business, since I'd be carrying my luggage myself anyway

That said I always bring bands, yoga straps, therapy balls and sometimes an ultrathin mat. I sometimes wonder what that looks like in the scanner.
