Vidiots vs. Videophiles

I don't take any dvds with me when I go on vacation. I can find plenty of enjoyable ways to get my exercise in. Sometimes technology is a good thing to take a vacation away from, too.

I travel with my laptop always, so don't have to worry about a DVD player!

DH & I got home late yesterday afternoon after spending several days at a lovely B&B on the beautiful Maine coast. I didn't take a single DVD with me and the only equipment I brought along was my pedometer. We walked everywhere and logged a lot of miles every day. Every day on the beach we saw other walkers & joggers, bicyclers and kayakers, and even a smattering of people practicing yoga and doing body weight exercises in the sand. There are lots of ways to workout on vacation without videos!

I agree, and always find ways to be active wherever I go, but my DVDs still travel with me. I enjoy working out and running, so for me a trip without being able to do them is no fun!

I like Cathe's Travel Fit for the upper body. For the lower body I take Kathy Smith's Secrets of a Great Lower Body. She does the whole thing without weights. When I'm at home I use weights when I do it, but not when I travel. For me, travel isn't necessarily a vacation.

Any 10 minute Pilates DVD (Or Brooke Siler's flash cards)
AM Yoga for your Week.

Do as many pushups as you can every morning. Do walking lunges on the beach.

What about working out to FitTv? You don't have to pack, and can still do different things that you may not normally do. Assuming they have that at where you are staying.

This is the first time I've felt the desire to bring a dvd on vacation. Usually, wherever we go includes lots of walking and it turns out to be a break from formal workouts.

I'll be bringing Jill Miller Yoga Tune Up via iTunes. Yesterday I downloaded Handbrake software to get the dvd on my phone, and it was pleasantly simple, glitch free I just started her At Home Program and it's so good, I don't want to stop

I know you asked for DVD advice, but for future travels you might want to consider an iPod. I've used the outdoor iTrains for walking on the beach as well as my own playlist. There's an iSculpt bodyweight only workout by Mimi that's no walk in the park, and I downloaded the 1 and 2 mile guided walks from Leslie. Itrain has yoga and stretch workouts too.
