Thank you to everyone who is posting reviews.
Not Jessica Smith but this YouTube Shoulder stretch was recommended in the YouTube finds thread. I haven’t tried it yet.

Thanks, so much Tracy! That was very kind.

Tracy, that looks excellent!

The downside of Jessica's Stretch workout is that she doesn't focus on any one area for very long. But, Jessica has already done workouts (Gentle Yoga for Balance Flexibility and Mobility from 2013) that address this with segments for neck and shoulders, back and chest, hips and knees and total body. Each of those practices are twenty minutes and this may be my most used Jessica workout when I have an area that needs more attention.

The plus side is if you're not a stretch (pilates or yoga) person normally, these make great add-ons to whatever else you're doing. I found they left me wanting a bit more stretch or even some gentle movement (like Classical Stretch) if I wasn't already adding these after a walk or toning workout.

I will also mention that when I was suffering with frozen shoulder (in the early stages) I could not do certain stretch or yoga DVDs and one that aggravated my shoulder was Jessica's Gentle Yoga Stretch from 2018. It's filmed in a garden park setting and she's standing between some sort of structure. Something as simple as Triangle pose, I struggled with. I couldn't raise my arm above my head or even to shoulder level in the beginning. And, as the workout continued (at that time in my life) it wasn't the "gentle" workout I needed. It might have also been the pace of that particular workout, too! I would have benefitted greatly from something like the Wall Stretch workout that she does in Simply Stretch, though. Shoulders are a tricky area when they're hurting or injured, and every workout isn't for every person.

I did both the standing and floor of the Gentle Yoga and Pilates today, so it was a full hour.

I'm not typically yoga nor pilates person (but I do CS near daily), but I kind felt it was more of a core and mobility workout than either yoga or pilates. Not sure if that makes sense...

I do have a wonky shoulder, and I've been avoiding anything that triggers it, but something in this workout triggered it. Not sure what it was though, I modify SO much in most workouts.

But other than that, I enjoyed it! I really benefitted from the modification snippets and I sometimes used them (or a yoga block if I couldn't get my chair). Jessica's cueing and directions were absolutely on point. The ocean and sunshine were the main reasons why I got this one, and they did not disappoint. I even watched it through the credits to keep seeing the ocean (instead of the gray skies and snow and leaf-less trees outside!).

SLIGHT TANGENT:

Does anyone know why some of Jessica's DVDs are available for purchase (digitally) through Amazon video, but not others? I have the Walk Strong 2 workouts that I play on my Amazon app/firestick. And while I still prefer physical copies of workouts, it is nice not to have to bother with DVD and such when it's time to exercise. I'm just wondering if these new ones would be available (I don't buy through her digital store; I prefer to work with the platforms I already have).

I did the standing portion of yoga/pilates and it hit my weakness - balance. I found some parts pretty challenging and look forward to doing it again. Really felt the burn in my ankle/calf area with the one legged balance poses.

Jessica's instruction was great - I found her voice relaxing with great form pointers. Reminded me why she is one of my favorites!

It's great to have Jessica back from her maternity break!

I also did the Gentle Yoga Plus Pilates Standing workout today! It was good and Jessica is graceful and makes it appear so effortless. A couple of instances I started to wobble, so I might try the chair next time. It was just the right length for me, as I was starting to get antsy by the time she got to Eagle pose. Then she wrapped things up soon afterwards. I liked the fusion of yoga, pilates and balance as well as the sequencing of exercises. A well thought out and instructed workout with some threatening crashing waves in the background. Very nice flow and pacing, too!

Amazon does like to make non-prime people wait. At least they held the dvds for me and eventually shipped.

They finally shipped my Yoga/Pilates dvd - scheduled to arrive Monday, 12/28.

I received the Stretch dvd and did the Floor section. I really enjoyed it!!
