Cheri - Honestly I was surprised that our governor did mandate closures. Here in Texas we are not particularly trusting of state or federal government, much preferring our local officials to make those kinds of decisions. I'm relieved that he did make that decision though - it makes our planning as a school easier, I think, although it seems like our local school district was not happy with the declaration, saying they needed clarification. It seemed pretty clear to me. Hopefully those measures will slow down the spread. We have 5 cases in this area that we know of. Over 300 cases in Texas, but it's a big, spread out, state, so there are vast areas with no diagnosed cases yet. Testing materials seem to be in short supply here, so even if you have it or they think you have it, they are just telling you to stay home (unless you can't breathe). Why bother with testing you if there's no treatment is the approach down here.

Christine - Prayers being sent! Please keep us posted. I do like that workout of Smriti's. I think I have it on the schedule to do for this coming Monday

Donna - Be careful today! We are trying to plan what our professional days next week for the teachers will look like. Trying to stay under the 10 person rule. You are right - it was the ART Method. I need to pull out that Jane Adams DVD - I've hardly done any of those practices.

Linda - I know Linda. It seems hard for them to make those decisions. Not sure why. As I read somewhere - you'll never know, really, if you overreacted, but it will be abundantly clear if you under-reacted.

Christine please keep us posted. I have another friend who had to wait out test results for her husband. We both found it strange to be relieved to hear he just had the flu.

Carol your school is lucky to have you help them navigate this process. Your clear headed thinking serves them well.

Donna hang in there. Hiding out in your office is a good plan!

Today was CS #1023 "lengthen/strengthen core"; Maya Beginning Pilates mat. The CS was a good standing and routine for the most part. Not entirely of course...(it is Miranda after all) ..but still some good standing core moves. However, I really enjoyed this pilates routine. The hundred didn't start the routine ( I hate that) and it had 9 min of prep work. I was good and ready for the rest of abwork with this kind of prep. It's actually a part of a 4 DVD set of yoga and pilates. It was a thrift store purchase that I hesitated purchasing the first time around because I didn't know anything about it. When it was still there several weeks ago, I went ahead and picked it up. I'm glad I did.

Carol~Georgia is like that too, in mentality, but some things call for drastic measures. Our county government shut down bars and restaurants except for drive-thrus, thank heavens. Our cases yesterday were 287 and today it's at 420. And we're DEFINITELY a smaller geographic state than Texas. The virus was concentrated in the northwest part of the state but is now spreading throughout.

Christine~I am praying. let me know! I read something that body aches and fatigue are rarer with Coronavirus than with flu and I'm praying that's true.

Good morning!

I've been in a major funk this whole week and I mostly skipped my workouts. This morning I've decided to get off my butt and get back to my routine.

Checking in with:

GHUTV Gold Walk & Sculpt 1 - 42min. Loved this workout! Five minutes of power walking alternated with 5 minutes of strength. Chris showed a lot of modifications if you didn't want to go down to the floor. Chris describes it as a beginner/intermediate workout. For me it was solid intermediate and very enjoyable.

ePilates Back Strengthening - 20min. Felt great!

We're on official "shelter-in-place" order as of today. Ugh. Fortunately we can go outside to exercise as long as we maintain "social distancing". I'm beginning to hate that phrase! We have a park across the street from us, so we can use that and we also have a roof top deck where I can hang out too. This is the perfect time to concentrate on my workouts and maybe even do some long-overdue home projects.

Hope everyone is doing well. Christine, I hope your husband is OK!

Waves to all!

Hi Everyone,

This morning was:

Jenny Ford - Marching with Cardio Bursts
Jane Adams - Gentle Yoga - Core and Flexibility section (part of it - anyway - DH had gone to the store this morning and I had to quit early to help him put away the groceries)

Christine - I am praying your DH is ok and it is just the flu.

Dana - I'm expecting a shelter in place order, too. Selfishly, I hope it doesn't happen until Tuesday - the closing for my mom's condo is on Monday and I hope that can go through - although I wonder if they could do everything with electronic signatures.

Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Good morning all,

Friday's workouts were:

GHUTV - Walk 'n Tone Express - 20 minutes - with DS
Pilates Nest - Open & Tone Band Workout - 30 minutes;
Dog Walk - 30 minutes with DS

Smriti's Open & Tone Band workout is one of my favorites. She keeps changing up the exercises so you aren't rep'ed to death or bored.

Dana - I saw that Illinois issued a "shelter in place" order. Does that mean you aren't supposed to go out at all? Not to the bank, grocery, etc.? Everything's closed? I guess that order is what people have been hoarding toilet paper for. I agree - I would call Chris' Walk & Sculpt 1 workout a solid intermediate workout as well.

Cheri - I see we "twinned" on workouts. I think it's funny how people are turning nouns into verbs these days. We went out last night just to drive around, and lots of restaurants had already shuttered their dining rooms - mostly the national chains; the local ones were still open. Our order shutting them down took effect at midnight last night.

Linda - Thanks; I'm just one of many helping to guide the Board of Trustees. We are fortunate to have a strong leader in our Head of School. We do have parents who are angry that class trips - scheduled for the first week of May - have been cancelled. They were all headed to hot spots - NYC, DC and New Orleans - and our trip providers are not being generous with refunds to our parents. It's very annoying. Parents could have purchased the travel agency's trip insurance, but I'm not sure that's even helping much of the time. I am hoping that the reluctance to give full refunds changes. We just don't have it in the budget to refund $25K to 30K to parents, especially considering everything that's going on. We're called a non-profit for a reason. Miranda - and . That's how I feel often when I do a Classical Stretch routine. I also hate the hundred and that's one reason I like Smriti's pilates so much - she doesn't often do it.

Donna - Hope your day in the office went well. I have to go in on Monday and Tuesday and am not looking forward to it. My poor sister-in-law in Oklahoma is still having to go in every day.

Christine & Brenda- Keeping you all in my prayers!

Carol, this is what we can still do (as of right now) under shelter in place order:

In Illinois, residents are still allowed to leave their homes for essential needs like:

For health and safety: seeking emergency services, obtaining medical supplies or medication or visiting a health care professional

For necessary supplies and services: obtaining groceries and food, household consumer products, supplies they need to work from home, and products necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation and essential operation of residences

For outdoor activity: walking, hiking, running or biking – including going to public parks and open outdoor recreation areas, except for playgrounds

For certain types of work: Providing essential products and services at Essential Businesses or Operations or otherwise carrying out activities specifically permitted in the order, including Minimum Basic Operations

To take care of others: Caring for or transporting a family member, friend or pet in another household

Restaurants are only open for pick ups, banks will be open, but dine-in restaurants and casinos are closed. I live within a walking distance of a casino that's already been closed for almost a week.

Not too restrictive YET. We'll see what happens going forward.

Hello,

Walk
epilates: Easy Morning Stretch

I took my dog on a mostly secluded trail today so no one else was around. It was nice to get out for fresh air. DH is doing okay today. His symptoms are not that bad now, but he is easily fatigued and his fever returns at night.

Thank you for the prayers and well wishes, everyone!

Dana, do you think your funk is related to what's going on?

Donna, I hope the closing goes through for you!

Cheri, thank you for mentioning that! Hopefully it's just the flu.

Linda, I'm glad your friend's husband is okay!

Carol, I really liked that total body workout by Smriti! I'm glad I have it downloaded.

That doesn't sound too bad yet, and that's what we are currently doing ourselves. Our restaurants, bars, gyms, etc. are closed per the Governor's order, along with our Schools. Hopefully these measures will help.
