Just completed: Jari Love--Get Ripped

I liked it! I had been waiting on this dvd to come in the mail. After reading a few less that great opinions, I was bummed. I tried it anyway. I uped the poundage and I was a-ok. The ab section could be longer. I think I might be sore tomorrow.

On the dvd Jari says you need to do the dvd 3 times per week for results. I plan to use this workout in rotation with cardio/cardio & weights workouts. I will probably only use it once per week.

I use it once a week but I need to bump it up to twice. It makes me sore for days though - I did it Tuesday night and my triceps still feel it. Ouch! I hope to do it again tomorrow night. I really, really like Get Ripped!!!!! I can't wait for some new workouts although if they are longer, I don't know if I will do them much.

You need to work your whole body muscles 3x a week to get results? Why is that?

I can't see working this into my rotation for 3 times a week almost an hour a time. I wonder if results will be had with 2x a week.

Ripped is my best buy of 2005.

Some of us did a rotation last year using Ripped and Body Pump. Plus cardio and intervals on other days.

Some folks also used Cathe's Power Hour as the same type of workout. But, that video puts me to sleep!

I don't think it's a hard-and-fast rule, but if you do resistance workouts fewer than 3 days a week, you would get less results, and doing it more would be counterproductive because it wouldn't allow for sufficient recovery. This doesn't mean you have to work every body part 3 days a week (in a split routine, you could work each body part 2, or even one day a week), but that you do resistance work spread out through the week (it stimulates growth hormone).

When I first got "Ripped," I used it three days a week. I added in some floor glute work between the pullovers and the tricep work (because my triceps couldn't take those two exercises back-to-back) and used weights at least as heavy as the guy in back.

I think "Ripped" especially works the shoulders and triceps well.

But watch out on the floor leg work. The sides are miscounted on at least one of the exercises.
