Jessica's Ultimate Workouts for Weight Loss 4-DVD Collection

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to share a recent purchase of mine and RAVE about it!

It is Jessica Smith's The Ultimate Workouts for Weight Loss 4-DVD Collection. Now these are not new workouts but they come bundled in a 4-pack and include:

10 Pounds Down Cardio Abs
Total Body Balance
Barre Fitness
Walking for Weight Loss, Wellness, and Energy

I got the set at Marys for about $43 after using the 10off coupon, plus free shipping.

Here is why I love this:
  • Jessica is so encouraging and kind and really tells you to listen to your body.
  • She does all the workouts along with you.
  • She wears workout clothes like me (I know this sounds silly but sometimes when I see instructors in super-fancy workout clothes it makes me feel guilty about my basic black capris & tank top).
  • It has a great mix of styles - walking, strength training, barre, Pilates/yoga, kickboxing, fusion.
  • There are a ton of workouts on here - 12, plus a 4-min tabata.
  • None of the workouts are over 30 min, except the 2 walking ones which are 40 if you include the warm up and cool down. The core of the walking ones is still only 30.
  • This is a great place to start if you are trying to get back into fitness like me and maybe you don't want to end up a sweaty mess after your workout, but you don't want just a yoga DVD. I find Total Body Balance to be especially good for that.
I think most of these DVDs go for $12-$16 on their own. She also has a 2-week rotation posted on her website that uses these, if you are interested.

I used to work out with The FIRM and also Cathe, but I have been wanting to get back to working out and looking for shorter workouts that were not HIIT but weren't only yoga either. These have totally hit the spot. I would say they are a great choice for working up to higher fitness levels or if you just want to have some options for low-impact, low-intensity. You could also string some of the cardio w/o's together to get some LISS (low intensity steady state) cardio sessions that are 30-60-80 min if you wanted a longer session.

Thanks for posting the Fall Challenge schedule. I signed up for the Fall Challenge, but apparently too late (it was the day after), and I didn't get any info on it. Just one question: which DVDs are necessary for the challenge? I recently bought Cardio Abs, but I haven't bought the others, yet.

TIA!

Hi,
Jessica is one of my absolute favorite instructors - I have all the DVDs except Cardio Abs.
I'm planning to do her fall challenge sprinkled in w/ some Suzanne Bowen and Classical Stretch.

She is the best! She also, IMHO, puts together very balanced rotations - I am prone to over use injuries but I have never gotten injured following Jessica's plans - I did her workouts almost exclusively this spring/summer - and I think it is b/c of the large variety of exercise styles and types and Jessica's encouragement not to kill yourself while working out.

She's using 2 DVD sets:

1. Walk On: 3-DVD Super Set

2. The Ultimate Workouts for Weight Loss 4-DVD Collection

Here's part of her email message that explains more about the fall challenge:

"And, because so many of you have requested we include our DVDs in more of our challenges, we're offering you two special options this year:

Option 1: Follow along using all of the 100% FREE routines from our YouTube Channel workouts (thanks for remembering to subscribe!) as listed below.

Option 2: Follow along with our YouTube channel workouts and add in our bonus DVD routines for a little extra.

We've outlined the full plan below so that you can decide before we start which option is right for you! And feel free to mix and match to best meet your schedule and needs (split up the two workouts into two sessions, do them all at once, or do the 1 you prefer for that day)."

Donna- I'm planning on trying the Fall challenge too!

I also wanted to add that it isn't necessary to have the DVDs to do the rotation, you can use just the You Tube workouts. Another option, if you wanted to add the "bonus" workout but don't have the DVDs is to find something similar in her You Tube collection. I am probably not going to double up Jessica's workouts on most days - I do want to add some of Suzanne Bowen's workouts since I paid for her site for this month!
