Question Why would you stretch legs on floor with toes pointed inward?

So I was doing a Taebo and after a series of floor stretches, Billy has you extend your legs, point your toes inward touching and then lean over reaching towards the toes.

I just don't remember ever doing that or in any other video.

Anyone have an idea why he directs us to do that?

Thanks for your thoughts!

That position better targets areas of your hip abductors/external rotator muscles (and a slightly different region of the calf)----areas often worked in kickboxing.

This page has a few illustrations to help you visualize. HTH.

I'm a vintage Tae Bo fan, yet I don't remember this stretch. (I often skipped over the stretching parts.)

This info is good to know since I have tight exterior rotator hip abductors. BTW, when I read this post I had to immediately sit on the floor with my legs stretched out and toes pointed inward.

Haha...well I dont know about you, but usually I ease into that stretch and bend my knees slightly to avoid discomfort.

I did notice I could straighten my legs right away with toes in.

FYI, asymmetrical block stretch does an excellent job at getting into those areas. It can be a bit intense but modifications are shown in the clip

"Ohhhh there's a MIGHTY stretch there!"

"..and into those FABULOUS buttocks muscles.."

Taiga that felt WONDERFUL!
(BONUS... justified my second yoga block purchase which was formerly based on the fact that it was grey and looked good on my yoga mat ;-) )

Once again...thank you!!!

Asymmetrical forward bend is one of my favorite stretches!
