Penny, I have opened this thread so many times with the intention of conveying my deepest sympathies yet found myself at a loss for words. I am a single parent and my world revolves around my son. I would be devastated if I lost him. I'm an oncology nurse and there was a little boy years ago who was my son's age at the time, around 10, looked just like him, and was dying of cancer. I struggled to walk into clinic on those days. I asked my son why would god make children suffer and take them away from their parents? My son told me everyone has to die one day and god will take care of them. I think part of my emotional upheaval was thinking my son would be afraid of dying but he seemed to be wiser than his years.
