Jill Miller's Coregeous-OK for Back Injured?

Is Coregeous appropriate for someone with lower back issues? I have a slightly bulging disk at L4-L5 which precludes me from doing any forward bends.

Would this DVD help with back issues? I hear the focus on the Psoas muscle would be helpful but I wonder if there was anything else that would be therapeutic (or not).

Are you familiar with Jill's work? It is great, but can be intense. I do remember that she does some excellent work stretching the psoas in her Yoga Tune Up at Home series. I haven't done Coregeous for a long time, but IIRC it is intense and focuses on building core strength. If you want something gentle, you could consider Mimi Solaire's Back In Shape or Barbara Benagh's Back Care.

Leslie, I agree that prior familiarity with Jill's work might be helpful. You might also check my review, in which I broke down the 4 main segments pretty thoroughly. I'm not familiar with bulging disk issues, but I'm guessing you would be okay with the massage ball stuff she does for the shoulders/upper body (to open up respiratory breath) as well as the stomach massage work, but some of the side-lying work on the block and leg lifts in section #2 might be more challenging for you.

Another thought: why don't you email Jill and ask? She's pretty responsive; I've received personal replies from her in the past.

Pam, I did start Jill's Yoga Tune up at home program when it first came out. It was OK but I got bored with it and I didn't have a back issue then.

I was actually seriously considering her treat while you train program and then started reading about Coregeous. I read your review Beth and it sounded like it might be good for me. I am not necessarily looking for something to "cure" my back issue I just would like to work on my core without compromising my back. The main thing that causes me problems is forward bending which is why I mentioned it. I can do planks and side planks with no problem.

Contacting Jill would probably be a good idea.
Pam I will also look into the Mimi Solaire and Barbara Benagh DVDs you mentioned. Thanks.

Leslie if you are looking for more of a workout the Solaire & Benagh dvds may not be enough for you as they are quite gentle. I hope you like Corgeous, I am a fan of Jill's work.

Jill Miller workouts are great for PRE-HAB, but not for injuries or re-hab.

I agree and would proceed with caution if you are dealing with an acute injury.
