Yes, I have thought about this - my DD wants mine.

Oh, maybe there's curiosity ... or Mission:Impossible-level apprehension!

Most of my fitness (and especially, other) media is retro. Numbering in the hundreds ...

Think: audio standalone ...

Though, my local newspaper the Post a week ago, reported something similarly as retro (concurrent technology as to what I have):

"Everthing's groovy.

'A bomb squad evacuated a building in downtown Sacramento, Calif. to investigate a suspicious object that turned out to be an old eight-track tape.

"Technicians X-rayed the '70s cultural relic after it was found in a voter-registration offie and assured the public there was nothing to fear but outdated music technology."

Hey, until very Recently, digital music did not stand a chance against analog!

Just my humble opinion.

And I do have something that still works (blew out about six tape decks previously) to play the cassette tapes on.

AhHa! Maybe my kids will want to split up mine. Body Beast and P90X to DS, yoga and kickboxing to DD1, Ruthless and STS to DD2, barre and step to DD3, etc. Maybe.

My collection has gotten smaller and my family knows how much I like my workout dvds. I have other areas of my life, though, that I need to declutter and purge. Clothes, books, magazines, some of my kids' toys.

I have the worst time with items I've sunk money into and don't use. I can't seem to purge them even though they sit.

I've been reading a lot of "becoming minimalistic" on Facebook; his posts are inspiring.

I know my stuff will end up in the landfill. Some of it already has. The only thing I can do to stop it is to get rid of it now.

If I die before DH, the DVDs will stay in place on their shelves until he dies. He is the packrat in the family and won't get rid of anything. He won't even box up stuff for temporary relocation to the basement or closet shelves.

When we're both gone, I'd be fine if whatever family member keeps them or donates them. Probably DVD technology will be obsolete, but I'd also be fine if the library would take them to expand their (very mainstream) fitness collection. All those old Denise Austins and Kathy Smiths they carry could benefit from some Beachbody, Dream Body, etc.

I actually wrote out an easy to follow list for my DS to follow. I have it tucked away, with a back-up, with a list of all my passwords to accounts and who to contact at work re: life insurance, where my will is, etc. Basically donating my small collection of yoga props to the yoga studio, my yogi and yogini nephews and nieces and take what they wish of yoga and Qigong DVDs, yoga books to the yoga studio lending library and leftovers to Goodwill or Parks & Rec.

I guess if my DH survives me, he'd have them all carted off to Goodwill. However, my 6-year-old grandson has developed a bizarre fascination with dumbbells, and simultaneously I've started to think I should formalize a will, so maybe I'll leave them all to him!

But I sort of hope that by the time I die, DVDs will be completely obsolete. Not because I want them to go obsolete soon...
