10 Things I want my Daughter to Know

I agree with this article 2000%. It applies to sons as well, especially with the increasing pressure for them to be "perfect" too.

Fantastic article!

I never find those cues about dresses, bikinis, tank tops, etc motivating. If that was the reason I was exercising, I would have quit within a couple weeks.

Very good article. I want my daughter to know those things, and I want my sons to know those things too.

From the article:

Quote:
And when it comes to exercise, I want her to grow up seeing it as a joy, and not a utility…as a gift, and not a chore…as an opportunity, not an obligation. I want her to do it for the love of it, not to fit into a dress.
That is exactly what I try to teach my kids when I'm working out (and they decide to join me! ).

Excellent article! Thanks for sharing; I'm going to keep it bookmarked.

That was an excellent article. Just this morning I did a really great workout. But then the instructor started talking about fitness is not about how you look (all while having obviously gotten breast implants. Nothing against it, just own up to it. Don't be pretentious as if looks aren't important to you. I can totally see they are). Then she later contradicted herself by saying something about not wanting to look unfit or skinny fat. I don't get why instructors are so insensitive. I hate all the bikini/black dress remarks too. Yes, I care how I look. I don't give one iota about fitting into a bikini/little black dress. I am also working out for my health and enjoyment too. I don't need someone else trying to get into my head about something that is not a priority for me. As Leslie S. said, "We didn't get these bodies to just be stared at."
