Talking For all of you Stinkin' VFers!

I mean, literally stinkin'!

Am I the only girl who sweats on here, ha ha! I was just reading Dirty Little Secrets, linked to over on the Greatest Hits thread, and I was shocked to hear how many of you are able to re-use your workout clothes during the week!!!

I don't mean that as an insult, I just mean that I've sweat like a man for most of my life, and my sweat doesn't smell like roses! I could never re-use my workout clothes, and I envy those of you who can! When I'm done with my workouts, I can't even stand my own stench, lol!

So, for all of you other stinky people out there like myself - what are your favorite post-workout de-stinkerators? I actually just discovered my favorite bodywash of all time - but I have to warn you - it actually smells like a wet dog itself (...or a farm animal...or... fishy???) I don't know how such a smelly concoction can get rid of my own stink so well, but this stuff works:

It's also good for your skin, since it's not drying. Like I said, I don't know how this stinky bodywash cancels out my own stink so well - but if you can get past its smell and the fact that it doesn't lather like normal bodywash, it's some great stuff!

I'm also curious about trying that deodorant I've heard talked about on here - I think its called Lavilin or something?

For those of you who actually sweat, what are your favorite products? And all of the Vfers who smell like roses can join in too, lol

I am a stinky girl, too. I cannot re-wear workout clothes, I cannot. I have even changed mid-workout if I become soaked through.

Here are my go-to products:

Shower gel: Everyday Shea Moisturizing Body Wash

Shampoo/Conditioner: I've tried everything, even Wen, and I always come back to this. I buy it in 64oz size. Pureology Hydrate

Deodorant/antiperspirant: Mitchum Power Gel For Men Unscented
(Lavalin DID NOT work for me.)

Technical fabric wash: Atsko Sports Wash
(cold water, gentle wash, line dry.)

Shoe funk: (available at Walmart)
OdoBan

I'm super sweaty & my sweat starts stinking pretty quickly. I do wear sports bras and pants 2x before washing, but only because I work out at home by myself.

Deodorant: Degree motion sense fresh energy scent

Soap: Tom's of Main deodorant beauty bar w/odor fighting sage
If the bar soap isn't enough, I resort to a cheap bodywash like Caress, but the soap is usually enough.

For underarms: Cetaphil antibacterial gentle cleansing bar
I use this only on my underarms and let it sit for a minute or so before rinsing off. It gets rid of any trace of stink.

Laundry detergent: Purex natural elements + oxiclean
(I have picky skin and this doesn't bother it.)

For shoes: Odor Eaters Antibacterial Foot and Sneaker Spray
(Usually airing out my shoes is enough, so I don't use this often.)

I can't re-wear my running clothes, but for indoor workouts, I only wear a bra top/bike shorts, so my sweatiest bits aren't in contact with the clothes. (I can't believe I just told the entire Internet that! ) I carefully air them out for the next w/o. The bigger problem is that they might get irreparably furry from being in contact with the carpet after moving my dog out of the way! But every inch of my running clothes--headband to socks--gets washed *immediately.* No idea why I sweat so much more running (even when it's chilly), but I do.

I'll be watching this thread with interest, because I find I need to periodically (every couple of years) switch out my deodorant b/c it stops working well.

Yelly, that Eucerin bodywash is also excellent if you get very itchy dry skin in the winter. It's almost impossible to find locally, but Amazon sells it in 3 packs and by subscription. A bottle typically lasts me the winter (usually because I am halfway through lathering up with the bar of soap before I remember to use it!).

After a run, I will scrub off in the shower and then soak in the tub, and have recently discovered the myriad benefits of bath oils! Luxuriously soft skin, but also a lovely soft fragrance that lasts all day. Right now I'm trying a couple of indie brands (bought at craft shows), but the pricy bottle from Bath & Bodyworks (Blackcurrant & Cherry Blossom) is actually my favorite. Mmmmm.

i walk a mile to my office, and i am wet with perspiration upon entering an air conditioned office.

i started using the Gold Bond spray powder after watching a commercial by Shaquille O'Neill. i keep it in my desk, and when i get to work, i spray my chest. it cools me off.

For my body, I just use SheaMoisture Shea Butter Body Washes or their bar soaps. Does the job. I also use their shampoo and conditioner, as I'm a naturally curly haired girl.

As for my stinky workout clothes, I have found that adding vinegar and OxoBrite to every load (in addition to whatever laundry detergent I use) does the trick. Oh, and I have to wash everything in warm. I cannot reuse workout clothes, but the good thing is I usually work out in a sports bra and boy shorts.

As for deodorant, I've been using rubbing alcohol and witch hazel. Does nothing for the sweat, but keeps the stink at bay. When I was pregnant and could smell myself ALL the time, I used prescription strength Secret. Can't remember the exact name though.

I use this detergent on DH's workout clothes. He buys the "technical" material that holds onto the stench something terrible! This detergent smells gross but it gets rid of the stink!

No way would I be able to wear the same workout clothes twice in a week. It would be disgusting for me!! I sweat quickly and profusely. I wear "performance" fabric bra tops and shorts/capris (cute workout clothes enhances performance, don't they? ), and while they dry quickly, the stink doesn't go away.

I haven't used a particular body wash to clean the stink off of me, but I'm interested in the detergent Kathy G mentioned as well as some of the other options people have mentioned--like vinegar. Sometimes I don't feel that I've washed the stink out of the clothes I've worn. Once.

I CAN rewear my workout clothes, but CAN'T rewear my sleep clothes (at least when my hormones are out of whack). I get night sweats and wake up smelling like a men's locker room.

I hate those kind of fabrics. I am one that can re-wear cotton t-shirts but after one or two wears of that techy fabric, I can't stand it.
