Barre3 vs Pure Barre vs ???

hello ladies,

newbie here who is finally delurking!

I was introduced to Barre maybe 2 months ago and have been a huge fan since! It's an amazing workout that doesn't leave me physically exhausted like cardio and I think I've noticed a nice rounding in my physique.

My practice started off in studios through various groupon and first timer offers but those eventually ended and I'm now trying to do these workouts at home.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Pure Barre studio classes and although the DVDs try hard to recreate them, it just isnt the same. I recently jumped on the 15 day trial of Barre3, but I dunno, they seem a wee bit more yoga focused than what PB is. I also have the Core Fusion Full Body or whatever it's called and that has been by far my favorite DVD.

Any other recommendations? I'm looking into doing the Ballet Body program, love the idea of the Periodization program!

Anyways.. I would love to hear what you have to say!

Thanks!
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca and welcome to VF!

I like Barre3 but I agree that it has a stronger yoga component than traditional barre workouts. It's also hard to find DVDs that compare to live classes in terms of intensity and vibe - here are the ones I find are best:

*Physique 57 Vol.1 and Vol.2 (esp. the two Classic 57 minute workouts)
*Pop Physique Hardcore
*Bar Method Dancer's Body
*Dailey Method (Full Length class on the "No Excuse" DVD)

I find all these compare to a live class in terms of intensity. P57 and Pop have the high-energy feel of a live class whereas BM and DM are more subdued.

Another fantastic option are the live Core Fusion classes on YogaVibes. The Bridgehampton one is my absolute favorite : http://www.yogavibes.com/store/paid-...exhale-spa-ny/

Welcome, Rebecca!

My favorites are P57 & Pop Physique. After that, Core Fusion.

You should look at clips to get an idea if you like the sets, music, etc. (except that Pop Physique doesn't have a proper clip).
