Laura, I am reading "The Friends We Keep" by Jane Green. I picked up Jennifer Weiner's newest book from the library. I have two other library loans out. I will check the titles and post them later.

Two recent duds that I had had high hopes for: The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper was just boring. I had to quit 80 pages in. The Tattooist of Auschwitz was not authentic and poorly written. It's supposedly based on a true story, but anyone who loves WW2 fiction and nonfiction will find this lacking. I read 115 pages, so it got a fair shake.

Over the weekend I read Stephen King's Elevation. I am a huge fan of his, but this short novel (more like novella) was a disappointment; there wasn't much to it.

Now I'm reading The Reunion by Sue Walker, a psychological thriller. I've never read anything by her; it's good so far.

ETA: Okay, this is embarrassing! I was looking up the latter book on Amazon...and discovered my own review for it! It was back in 2005. I have sometimes been uncertain whether I have read a book before, but I'm over a third through this one, and it has not sounded familiar AT ALL.

Now I'm not sure whether to keep reading...at least I gave it 4 stars.

I finished Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I think I liked it. If you liked The Great Alone, you may like this one.

Beth, I wasn’t that thrilled with Elevation, either.

I absolutely loved Dave Barry’s Lessons from Lucy. I think I was laughing from page 2 on.

I'm on a long waitlist for Where the Crawdads Sing at my library.

I'd reserved it from the library months ago. When the ebook was finally checked out to me, I'd forgotten what it was!

I've done that too! Must not have made much of an impression.

Recently started rereading The Curse of Chalion. I read so slowly these days that library books are sort of too much pressure. No way can I finish a book before it's due, especially the short term loan ones.

Thank you for taking this off my to-read list! I'm not a fan of either bad writing or badly done WW2 fiction.

I finished An American Marriage by Tayari Jones yesterday — really enjoyed it. Next up: Another Side of Paradise by Sally Koslow.
