An older series, but new to me, is the Maggie Hope mystery series by Susan Elia MacNeal. The first two books (and possibly more) are set in World War II Britain, and the author does a great job of portraying the toughness of the British people. I'm not sure I could have endured the things those folks endured in the early 1940s.

I finally picked up a copy of Brandon Sanderson's The Way of the King at the library.

It's off to a good start, and I've heard lots of good things about this series so I'm planning to just put up with this great big book.

Moving it around should qualify as an upper body workout.

I haven’t been reading much, but I’ve been walking a lot and I always listen to Audibles when I walk. I recently finished Inheritance by Dani Shapiro and Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I enjoyed them both.

I’m on the library waiting list for the Audio of Educated. I liked Hilbilly Elegy and Glass Castle so I’m thinking I may like it.

I'm still reading that series. Maggie is now in America. If you enjoy that series, you might enjoy the Masie Dobbs series. It begins post-World War 1 and works its way to the second.

I've been on a reading binge recently because I've had a lot of problems sleeping. I've read (or at least started and tried):

The Good Liar - Catherine McKenzie - I didn't enjoy this enough to read very much of it. For me, psychological thrillers aren't enjoyable when they don't get out of the characters' heads. But then, that's probably what makes them psychological thrillers I've enjoyed this author's books that aren't in this genre.

Beach House Reunion - Mary Alice Monroe - This is the latest in her beach house series and it felt like returning home. I really enjoyed the story and where the characters went.

As Bright as Heaven - Susan Meissner - This is a historical novel set in 1919 Philadelphia when they were dealing with World War I and the Spanish flu. It was one of those books that was definitely fictional, but I felt like I was reading a story that probably happened to people in some form or another.

Saving Sophie - Ronald H. Balson - This is the second in his series and it was as good as the first book. He writes mysteries that are different, unusual settings and well-developed characters.

Sons and Soldiers - Bruce Henderson - This is a non-fiction book about Jewish boys who escaped Nazi Germany in one form or another and all made their way to America and then, when they had grown up, returned with the U.S. Army in a unit that helped analyze German forces and interrogated German prisoners. It was pretty good.

Laura, I know what you mean. I dislike books that do not have much dialogue and are mainly narrative.

Thanks difit! I actually just started a Lisa Scottoline book today, Accused. Most of her books I have read have been in the Rosato & Associates series, but the new one sounds interesting.

I just finished Sally Field's, "In Pieces." I liked it a lot more than I expected to. I'm reading "Atomic Habits" now. I had a long wait for that one at the library.

Still reading The Way of Kings. I'm enjoying it more than I'd thought I might.

The author is a good writer but I wasn't sure I'd be in the mood for sword and sorcery anything, but so far so good. The biosphere he creates seems quite bizarre. Wonder if that's ever explained?

Also, bought myself a copy of Dan Simmon's Hyperion. The library doesn't have it and I didn't want to keep hunting for it.
