Sherry, I think you were the one who recommended at least one of the authors I love (Diane Chamberlain) to me.

Great answers everyone! I appreciate the responses, it is helpful especially when it comes to how long do you spend on a book that you aren't into. I really enjoyed chick lit years ago but have realized that it's not my thing anymore. I picked up a book that I bought years ago and started reading it feeling that I should being that I spent the money on it but there are just too many books I want to read to spend time on something that just doesn't light my fire. So it will go in the donate pile and on to the next one.

I will have Laura Levine's This Pen for Hire this weekend hopefully, should be a good one. But I am in the middle of Laura Bradford's Amish mystery series which I am liking too. Oh what to read?

I tend to read the same authors that I know I like. Also, if a Masterpiece drama has been adapted from a book, I can be sure I'll like that book.

Well, I gave up on the McCaffrey 3-in-one, and changed my Goodreads listings to show that I read the first two as stand alones. I used to enjoy her writing style, but mostly all I notice now is that a lot of the underlying assumptions behind the characters actions seem kind of sexist and dated, and sometimes kind of horrible. Not the comfort-food-in-book-form I remembered.

I'm not really in a novel reading mood anyway, so I've been slowly working my way through the expanded edition of The Essential Rumi. I don't usually have patience for poetry, but somehow lately it works for me. Maybe my tastes are changing.

I finished (though I don't know why) a psychological suspense book called "Our Little Secret" which I did not like at all. None of the characters were likable, especially the main character and the supposed "twist" at the end was totally obvious. I am glad it was a library loan.

I am now reading "A Noise Downstairs" by Linwood Barclay which I am enjoying much more.

Looking forward to the new ones from Jodi Picoult, Diane Chamberlain, Lianne Moriarty, and Kate Morton!

Currently reading The Last Mrs. Parrish and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Both are really good!

dfit, thanks as always for the update!

I am reading two books right now. I got a book for review, Golden Child, that sounded interesting in part due to being set in Trinidad. I really didn't click with it so am now skimming just to write the review.

To have something else to read, I started the memoir that Sue Monk Kidd wrote with her daughter called Traveling with Pomegranates. I've only read the first chapter by Kidd (she writes alternately with Ann Kidd Taylor, her daughter), and Kidd came across as overly melodramatic to me.
