I'm almost finished Dead Cold, the second book in Louise Penny's Chief Inspector Gamache series set in rural Quebec. I'm really enjoying it, her writing is kind of satirical & whimsical with interesting quirky characters.

I like those books by Louise Penny, Pam. I think I am current on them - but one day I would like to go back and re-read the series.

I can't remember where I left off on my reading log.

I read Diane Chamberlain's latest - The Stolen Marriage it was meh. I enjoyed the history part of the book surrounding the polio hospital in NC, but the rest of it was pretty weak.

I am now reading The Enchantress of Numbers by Jennifer Chiaverini - so far so good on that one. I just started it last night.

Take care,

Donna

After really enjoying the first two Little Beach Street Bakery books by Jenny Colgan, I picked up The Bookshop on the Corner at the library and it was just "meh" by comparison. I thought the main character did some really dumb things, and the ending didn't ring true. Her particular formula of "woman loses job and hustles to create a new life" is very soothing to me at the moment, though!

I downloaded the audiobook of The Giver via Overdrive last night for something to listen to while cooking dinner and am riveted. I'm not loving the narrator but the structure makes for a good listening experience so far.

Kate, I had the same feeling about the Jenny Colgan book. Hopefully her new one this summer will be better.

I am reading two British psychological suspense books:

Friend Request-Laura Marshall
The Daughter-Lucy Dawson

Both are very absorbing so far.
