I keep track of my books in a reading journal. I just finished book #51 books for the year, not bad, but was hoping for a few more...
Here are my top ten, not in any specific order. I'd love to hear everyone else's favorites!

1. The Heaviness of Things That Float - Jennifer Manuel
2. The Art of Racing in the Rain - Garth Stein
3. The Life We Bury - Allen Eskens
4. Driving Miss Norma - Tim Bauerschmidt & Ramie Liddell
5. The Paying Guests - Sarah Waters
6. Friend Request - Laura Marshall
7. The Goldfinch - Donna Tartt
8. The Alice Network - Kate Quinn
9. The Mists of Avalon - Marion Zimmer
10. The Break - Katherena Vermette

I just finished Beartown and really enjoyed it.

I'm now in the midst of reading Shiver - a YA book, I'm about to bail on it as it is really just a YA romance....not really holding my attention.

I have two re-reads that I may embark on next - Tara Road and The Likeness or maybe I'll just pick up something new.

I finished my Christmas-themed novel, Comfort and Joy by India-somebody. It wasn't quite as lighthearted as I expected but a decent read.

My favorite book of the year (fiction) was probably Roland Merullo's The Delight of Being Ordinary, which I am sure I have mentioned her before. I didn't read many great fiction books this year though.

Currently reading Little Fires Everywhere, and I'm really enjoying it. It takes place in Cleveland (Shaker Heights, specifically), and since I live in the area, it is even more interesting to me.

I'm also re-reading Pride & Prejudice because I need to do that every few years.

I picked up a bunch of books at the library since it will be frigid here through Monday. I'll have a reading weekend

The titles are:

The Crooked House (had that out already)

I finished Stephen King's The Wind Through the Keyhole, which I liked better than I thought I would. Next library book up is The Lake House.

I recently finished The Alienist by Caleb Carr. I liked it- I needed something easy to read with a bit of suspense.

My book group is reading Mrs. Fletcher by Tom Perrotta. I wasn't going to read it because it didn't interest me in the least but I decided to get the audio book and have been listening to it in the car. I have mixed feelings about it. It is well written and at the moment I find the main character ( a divorced woman whose only son just left for college) sympathetic and likeable. However I think my feelings about her will be changing soon and I really dislike her son's character. There is a lot of foul language and sex if these things bother you. I would never have picked this book to read but I am finding some of it quite funny.

I have so many books on my to read list and it keeps expanding every time I read reviews or walk into a bookstore. Which is why I have decided to listen to as many as I can.
