I enjoyed The Promise Girls, but not as much as her quilting novels! I wonder if she is going to write more of those?

Sherry - that sounds like a good book.

Pam - I would probably like that one, I will have to see if my library has it.

I'm enjoying The Other Einstein at the moment and the CS Pain Free book, which has re-kindled my interest in CS/Essentrics!!

Helen - thanks again for mentioning these - for those w/ Prime these are available free as loans! Once I finish my current read (The Other Einstein) I plan to borrow the first in this series and give it a go.

You're welcome Donna, I hope you like them! Darn! I didn't know they were available on Prime lending. I noticed that they are Kindle Unlimited titles.

Her Barbara Vine books are so creepy and well done, though a few I had to put down because they were just too disturbing. I actually read A Dark Adapted Eye before picking up the Inspector Wexford procedurals, and loved the "backwards" construction where you know who died but not whodunnit or why. Minette Walters has a similar style of psychological suspense.

I usually get a craving to read a big, fat book in the summer and this week I started The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. It's reminding me a lot of The Heaven Tree trilogy by Edith Pargeter (aka Ellis Peters), but a little soapier. Enjoying it so far.

Sherry - I'm glad you included the author's name in your post. That's a popular title. The book looks good. And imagine my surprise when I saw it was an author from across the pond.

The third book in Follett's Pillars of Earth series, A Column of Fire, is due to be released on September 12th, and it looks really good!
