The VF Calendar

There's a calendar function on this site that nobody uses. It's true we don't have get-togethers much anymore, but we could be using the calendar function to announce release dates of upcoming dvds. That way they'd all be in one place.

It looks like the calendar ended in December 2012. (Was it written by Mayans?)

I seem to remember someone keeping that up in the past. I'd guess they no longer are? Anyone want to volunteer?

Cool ex-calendar moderator checking in

Yup, I was one of the folks that used to keep the calendar updated with upcoming DVD releases. I did it for about a year and a half, I think. It got to be too time-consuming; I was spending 10 hrs a week or so on it.

The biggest issue was that DVD release dates would change so often. Not to mention I did try to research which releases were re-releases or compilations of older footage so VFers wouldn't be fooled. Can anyone say 'Gaiam'?

And the sheer quantity of yoga vids being released back then, Yowza! It was hard to keep up. I don't even like yoga!!!

Wendy and the other mods were really very supportive and I appreciated it. But I think the sad part was when I discontinued it and nobody really noticed, LOL. I realized that *I* was my biggest fan.

It kind of took the joy out of reading VF after a while, since updating the calendar became a chore rather than a pleasurable project.

I am glad to be a VF fan in my own lurking ways these days.

Dawn - I used to look forward to seeing what was on the upcoming releases list and I do miss it! I'm just kinda easy-going when it comes to change, I guess.

VFers were faster than the calendar

Thanks for the kind words you guys, I'm sure some folks did enjoy the new release calendar.

It just didn't make sense to try to keep ahead of Vfers who are rabid industry followers who always managed to find out about someone filming or a new DVD series coming out days or weeks before I picked up on it.

Let's face it, we are a lot more motivated than routine industry media venues like Gaiam, Amazon, Collage Video or even Mary at TotalFitnessDVDs.

Then there were painful times, trying to keep track of when Cathe's new series or Beachbody's latest was *really* coming out. I'm not even on Facebook, where followers would get juicy tidbits ahead of the public.

Anyway, it would be cool to have a user-updated calendar where everyone could submit updates. Has anyone seen that work on other forums?
