EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp for Wii?

Anyone happen to get this yet? I'd like a Wii game that will give me a good workout and it looks like this could.

I was wondering about this, too, especially what are the exercise differences between it and EAS Active 2.

Have both

I actually got both Active 2.0 and NFL Training Camp and they have a lot of similar exercises. In the NFL workout there are football specific drills (obstacle courses, pushing on a bag, catching passes while running, etc) that are actually a lot of fun and feel less like exercise. But I was a little disappointed when I set up each game with a 6-week (i think) plan and the exercises for each day were very much the same.

In the NFL game you can pick a player to be your trainer, however, it isn't their voice but actually just a drill sergeant like coach that barks orders at you. I didn't mind that but it may bother some. Also the player/trainer selected didn't resemble the real-life player very much.

There are also some differences in the rep counting and clocks, but they are minor. Oh and the music is better, IMO, on Active 2.0.

Some nice things about the two games in general:
- the heart rate monitor really allows you to tune your effort, make sure you are giving it your all
- most of the exercises do not require the wii remote which means you can substitute weights for the band if you want to.
- from what I have seen so far there are no repeats from Active or Active: More Workouts.
- i think the Active series has always provided a good workout but it seems like these games have stepped things up a notch (I can't necessarily prove that )

My only complaint is that there isn't a way to combine all four games into one big one to give you the ultimate variety!

The long and short of it is that I like both and would buy both again. If you don't have Active 2.0 then I would certainly recommend Training Camp.

Thanks for the comparison! They both sound good.

Bumping old thread

I got NFL a month or so ago when the price dropped to around $15 on Amazon, and just got around to trying it a couple days ago.

There's a set of premade workouts each named after a team. I did the Green Bay Packers workout, mainly because it was one of the shorter ones at about 20 minutes, "in" the Ravens' stadium.

I got a decent workout; my legs are still achy, but I think I'm just out of shape when it comes to football runs and lunges. I did like the warmup which was very joint-mobility-ish. What I didn't like: having to frequently press the A button to keep from getting the "communications have been interrupted" error message, rather long pauses between exercises, and confusing tutorials (I was never really sure how to do that thing with the tackling dummies coming at you - I ended up just flailing my arms to the side and hoping something would happen).

I really like the HRM; watching my HR in the corner of the screen made me push myself to stay elevated. I wish more exergames had this feature.

Anyone else still using this game? For under $20, I can put up with its weaknesses. And with all the players, logos and stadiums, it would be a great gift for an NFL fan.
