This is far from a "pedestrian" game! If you own a Wii and want to walk/jump/jog/rebound to great music till you're soaked, this game is a must-own, even at its full price of $30. At $20 (bought it as an Amazon Gold Box deal 2 days ago) it was a total steal.

I just completed 5000 steps and over 1 mile and I had to quit because I was slipping and sliding on my own sweat! I used my Active Life mat (my Wii DDR mat is buried underneath all the others - shows you how unthrilled I was with the first Hottest Party) and it's great because you can do steps around the mat, jacks, scissors, jumps (in place, laterally and front-back) and even box steps. I did have to pause occasionally to move it back into place, which is easy to do by hitting the "home" button on the Wiimote. I didn't even try the remote-nunchuck mode, but I bet this rocks on the rebounder or step.

And yes, getting out of the stadium is tricky. I think that only one exit is "open"? I just kept marching and clicking on side-pointing arrows when they appeared, and eventually my avatar turned and left the stadium. The lower-right icon did not appear until after I exited the stadium. I hope this doesn't make people quit from frustration. Don't give up; once you're out on the island, you're cooking with gas.

I the music, both licensed and unlicensed. Full length songs! With lyrics! Finally I can sing along with La La Land (also in We Cheer 2). That and Vacation are superb for jumping and jacking to. I did 100 step intervals of in-place jumping and Cathe-style scissor jumping - WHEW! Later I will try using my hands on the mat for a core workout. I need to cool down a little first!
Walk It Out! Game of the Year!

I ordered this and will do the "Non-Gamer, Un-Coordinated Old Bag" review when I get it.

Okay please do tell: some song titles, please?!?

ETA - also, do you have Just Dance? (Curious about that, too!)

That gave me a chuckle.

Here's a link to the song list. I have a blast with this game and alternate between the floor and the rebounder using the remote/nunchuk control option. I have a way to go before I unlock all 120 songs!

Plus, after reading the amazon reviews I'd like to try it on my treadmill or elliptical sometime - when I feel like moving the Wii downstairs, that is. So, probably not soon since I'm still having so much fun with it as is.

Here's the list of licenses:
MASTER RECORDINGS by ORIGINAL ARTISTS

Closer by Ne-Yo
Clumsy by Fergie
When I Grow Up by Pussycat Dolls
Get Ur Freak On by Missy Elliott
Hot N Cold by Katy Perry
La La Land by Demi Lovato
How Do You Sleep? by Jesse McCartney
Kiss Me Thru The Phone by Soulja Boy Tell Em feat. Sammie
Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas

COVER RECORDINGS

Walking On Sunshine
Holiday
September
What Is Love?
Vacation
Crazy In Love

And a whole bunch of "Konami Originals" (i.e. songs you never heard of unless you're a collector of Japanese rhythm games) on the list sjajsa linked to.

I also have, and love, Just Dance. Walk It Out is more like a genuine game where you try to collect enough steps/points to fill out the island and collect new songs, whereas Just Dance really boils down to a dance workout video - everything is unlocked from the start, and you just mirror the dancer. If you like those UK disco workout DVDs then you may prefer Just Dance, while Walk It Out is more Leslie-ish. (But with good music, and none of the "Wak, wak, wak" that always bugged me.)

(Alta, LOL! Maybe you can put the Active Life mat to use )

Sue, how did you stay to the beat of the music? My points get taken away if I don't stay on beat, thus a zero sweat factor for me.

Sue, thanks for all this info! I know I'd love Walk It Out, and I think I'd probably love Just Dance, too. Fun, fun, fun!

Now to decide if it's worth getting another Wii (dd has it at college).
