I've still been surpassing my reading challenge - I pledged 55 and at 64!

I'm still reading Santa's on His Way; I started the fourth (last) story yesterday. It's been very formulaic but a decent diversion.

I finished Elizabeth Berg's The Confession Club. I find Berg's style similar to Anne Tyler, but I like Berg better (Tyler can get too meandering and pointless for me). This book was a nominal sequel (same setting, some same characters) to The Story of Arthur Truluv and A Night of Miracles - I especially loved the latter, maybe because I read it first.

I also just finished Matthew Sanford's memoir, Waking.

I'm going to go to the library after work today and see if they have any other holiday-themed books that look good.

Meandering and pointless? Anne Tyler is my favorite!

I know, it was definitely just IMHO. I do really like some of her work.

I have this one waiting for me at the library (with a stack of other books - eek!) and am really looking forward to reading it (if I get to it).

My son bought "Crying in H Mart" because he has seen the author in concert multiple times but he will probably not read it. Maybe I will borrow it from him.

I finished the Joyce Maynard book and liked it, but it was about 100 pages too long. I will start Dave Grohl's book tonight.

I read the first novella in Santa’s on His Way. It was okay but predictable as I expected. Not sure I’ll read the rest. I got sidetracked with finishing a book club book that I’d waited a long time for from the library and was in a time crunch to finish. It was really good, The Giver of Stars. I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads. I am waiting for your other suggestion, This Year it Will be Different, from the library. I read a lot of Binchy books many years ago & really enjoyed them, so I look forward to reading this one.

I also surpassed my reading challenge, pledged 100 & am at 107.

Wow Pam, great numbers! I might set my goal for 60 next year; not sure I could get to 100.

Yeah, Santa's On His Way is an amusing diversion at best, although I am enjoying the 4th story a bit more. I diverted myself too (by reading The Confession Club, which I already had from the library).

The Giver of Stars is on my TBR list — very happy to hear you enjoyed it!

It's been on mine for a long time, too! Eventually I'll get to it!

ETA Beth - Between Covid and retirement, I had a lot of time to read, lol. A lot of my books are audio, listen while I putter, exercise, or do chores.
