This thread is just what I need to see! For years, I have wanted a Concept 2, but always felt that they were too expensive---and they were then $600-700. There were always lots of them for sale on Craigslist for much less. Now, they are all the rage, with Crossfit using them, and not only are they $900, but it is hard to find them anywhere at a discount.
I see them being sold by Crossfit gyms, but I would not buy one from one of those, since they get heavy use. I have an old rowing machine that is similar to Concept 2, but not nearly as smooth, so I never enjoyed using it. I plan to go to some local fitness equipment stores to try out the Lifecore rowers, which also look good. They are pricey, though. |

I have 2k left for this week's challenge, that I will get in tonight after work. I'm LOVING this!!!!!! I got the Concept2 app for my phone and the cable to connect it to my PM3 just arrived yesterday - this will let my phone automatically log my results to my Concept2 training log after each row. Sweet!
I'm still doing a lot of experimentation with my rowing pace to figure out where my sweet spot is. It's been fun and interesting - I need to slow my pace down for the longer rows as my natural tendency seems to be to go like a bat out of hell, but I can't sustain that for much more than 2k (and I finish that 2k totally redlined!).
