Crone Cronies - Hey, That Was Rather Inappropriate. Hey! Let's Be Friends. November 1

The Cronies is a place for women who are mature in age or attitude. The group is highly diverse in that we have ages ranging from 30s to 60s, some are moms, some are single, some are teachers/professors, and some have jobs and work outside the home and some don’t. We do our own thing and are happy when life doesn’t get in the way too often. Some are training for a marathon, some don’t even do vids, you get the picture.

Life and exercise are what we report. A thread is started every Sunday. Some report every day, others whenever they can.

Bottom line: we are a diverse group and very supportive of each other’s goals. Oh, and we’re funny as heck. If you’d like to join us, just come on down.

This week's theme is dedicated to Alta/Vintage VFer. I totally thought of her when I saw it.

We did have some trick or treaters last night. There weren't many, but that was fine because I didn't buy much candy. And we had a little left over. It was kind of fun. In our section of the neighborhood, there were multiple people who had a card table set up out on their driveway with candy spread out on it. We had our decorated box set out on our front steps. Because of how things were set up, multiple people were outside their houses waiting on and talking to the kids stopping by. There was a lot of yelling up and down the block. I met some new neighbors. The wife's name is Laura. I told her that she must be a wonderful person. People seemed to be following the strategy of keeping their distance from others while talking. Most of the kids stopping by had full pumpkins, so apparently our area wasn't the only one with people giving out candy. When we went out on a walk yesterday afternoon, we saw a couple of houses with signs saying that they would be giving out candy.

To Paula

In this area there are complexes with little salons that hair dressers rent individually. The woman who cuts our hair is in one of those, so she is the only person in her space. You have to contact her to tell her you're there and she comes out to escort you back to her space.

I'm not really looking for a job at this point. But the job I interviewed for, I applied for back in the spring and it was the one that I was most interested in/intrigued by, so when it resurfaced, I figured it was worth finding out more about.

It's good that it's better enough for you to stay home. I understand wanting to be home on election night. Catalina will still be there.

Good morning!

Thanks for getting us started, Laura - I have your list of titles saved in my messages! Unfortunately, title suggestions you posted a few weeks ago seems to have dropped off the list of threads already. I kind of had hoped to have access to those older threads to check how things were going a year ago, but now it's about a month of posts...

Yesterday was very quiet around here - the house that specializes in halloween wasn't decorated at all last night , but that cut down on outside trick or treaters in our neighborhood. I did have the outside lights turned off and all my windows shaded - I had hoped to see the full moon last night, but the clouds were pretty thick here. My neighbor had a bucket of treats near the sidewalk, but those didn't go because people weren't walking past, so they gave up on it around 8, if not earlier. I did peek out once and saw a small group of treaters going down the street. It was very cold and windy out there, so frankly, glad the kids weren't out there. Hopefully they celebrated at home watching some Halloween movies.

I did get the clocks turned back for today - only have my car clock to go. I was surprised my furnace timer was automatic in its time change - had to put back an hour this morning. I'm planning on walking Gus and am currently doing some laundry. I did get quite a bit of my back yard raked and delivered to the compost pile, but will wait till our temps warm up and the wind dies down to do more raking. I might also stop by the grocery store to pick up some things for my friends - one may be getting here today and the other tomorrow.

Laura, I think this was the first year I don't buy any treats for Halloween (even for myself ) - if someone would have demanded a treat, the only thing I could give was a can of sparkling flavored water. Wonder if the sales are happening on left-over treats at stores today.... Nice that your neighbors used signs to indicate openness to treaters. My haircutter is similar to yours - one appointment at a time. I think some big studios had to cut down on openings due to Covid. I'm not planning on watching the election reviews on Tuesday - I don't think the final numbers will be completed for a few days so hopefully no conclusions Tuesday night.

Paula, glad to hear the smoke levels at home are diminishing - hope it stays that way! Enjoy your eve at home!

Waves to all (from >6 feet apart)!

Good evening. Workout was Pahla B's B, oday Shaping Day 24 Met Con, followed by a walk with DH. Groceries, laundry, and gardening, oh and changing the clocks - just putzing around.

Laura, Thanks for getting us started. We didn't have any trick or treaters last night. I didn't expect any. I'm not sure what people with kids did for Halloween - maybe parties at the school. Most hair stylists here rent their station in a salon. Good luck on the job if it's what you want.

Anita, I hoped to see the blue moon last night too but it was solid cloud cover here. I don't think we'll know who won the election for a couple weeks at least, but DH wants to watch anyway, just to get a feel on how it's going.

Good morning!

It was torture to stay up to 9 pm last night , but I did and had a good night's sleep till this morning. I'm glad Gus likes to sleep as long as he can instead of being an early riser and get me up type dog, like the others before him. I'll be making a grocery run this morning, walking Gus and waiting for my friends to arrive. I did check with them and they didn't need me to pick up any groceries for them.

Paula, in the past several weeks I've been getting sleepy at dark, even if it was only 7:30 pm, staying up till the new 9 pm is torture for me! My sleep clock went an hour ahead instead of back! I don't know if my friends want to watch the politics TV election night or not - I don't want to watch it! No answer will be ready till later in the week, but I'm afraid someone will claim a victory election night. I might be able to catch a near full moon tonight as the clouds shift away.

Waves to all (from >6 feet apart)!

It looks like a beautiful sunny day out. It's the coldest day yet, highs in the mid 50s. I can hear Anita laughing at the thought of that being considered a cold day.

I got caught up on email, made a couple of appointments, called about a possible UTI, and did a cardio workout that integrated weights. This afternoon, I need to go to the grocery store to get a couple of things that might head off the UTI. It's not bad and I so rarely have them (like two in my lifetime) that it took me by surprise.

Anita - I can't imagine DH not wanting to watch the returns tomorrow, so I'll probably spend time with him watching while creating cards or reading. Sorry you are so tired so early. That's tough.

Paula - I saw the moon, but it didn't look blue. Maybe I'll look again tonight. Hope the ash continues to not be as big of a problem.

Alta - Of course it is. If you were inappropriate and I ran in the opposite direction, that would be bad. But, if you are rather inappropriate and I laugh and want to be your friend, that's a good thing. And you have made me laugh often over the years here at VF - inappropriate or not.

Good evening. Workout this morning was Pahla B's Body Shaping Day 25 moderate weights followed by some yoga with Kassandra. Oh and DH and I did a neighborhood walk.

Anita, I hear you on the torture of staying up until 9 pm last night. I also am with you on fearing the outcome of the election tomorrow. I am concerned there will be violence regardless of who wins. It may take several days for the final vote count.

Laura, sunny day here too. Yeah, my DH will want to watch the returns tomorrow too, so I'll probably see it too whether I want to or not.
