Question Any Body Beast checkins?

I'm going to be starting this program soon, but not following the nutritional program. I feel the calories are too high for my current goal which is fat loss and maintaining muscle, not muscle hypertrophy. I'll be adding a bit more cardio most likely as well, nothing much though.

Any Body Beast grads care to share their experiences?

Thx

I gave up on check-ins (heavy work schedule, limiting internet time) but happy to share my experiences. I recently started another round of Beast (last week of Build). I have never added calories or changed my diet for STS, Beast etc. I think that would make me feel sluggish/cause weight gain. My diet is already very clean and all about healing fast and feeling well so I think that really cuts body aches and reduces potential over-training effects.

FYI, I never add cardio to my weight rotations. I have experimented with this for years and, for me at least, it hinders weight loss and muscle definition. I have started adding evening yoga/barre to get the kinks out after work. But historically, my very best strength/leaning came from 3 heavy splits per week with nothing else added. I also take rest weeks when doing heavy lifting and I tend to drop the most pounds on those weeks. No doubt some of that is water weight but I hold progress into the next phase. Best of luck & HTH

Thanks! I am not sold on adding cardio, it's more a mental thing. If I did add it, I was thinking 1-2 Ruthless workouts a week and/or one 2 mile jog a week or a 2-3 mile walk. I'll be playing that by ear. I feel the MOST important thing for me to see results is focusing more on my nutrition and less so on the specifics of my workouts which is the opposite of what me and probably most people do. I'm liberating myself from the scale too

I'm nearly done with my first round. I did the huge rotation without any added cardio. Love the workouts but add extra warm ups and stretching. I'm planning on starting another round in about 2 weeks. I also didn't follow the nutrition guide but do add a protein shake after each workout.

I finished the Lean Beast rotation in March and am doing my own hybrid Beast/Cathe rotation right now. If you start a check-in, I'll participate happily.

Like you, I did not follow the nutrition guidelines but focused on eating good food for fuel and recovery. I started out thinking I'd add more cardio days and did occasionally, but for the most part the heavy weights was enough. I didn't click with the Beast Cardio workout at first, so I subbed in other cardio of choice (Hiit, interval or steady state depending on my mood) and those workouts were 30-60 minutes long instead of Beast Cardio's 30. My other tweaks to the program were adding longer warmups and stretches and adding more abs. More abs probably aren't necessary, but I like doing abs! I also did some Cathe sliding disc work on Legs days if I felt motivated.

I had great results: lost a few pounds, my midsection got tighter and I gained a LOT of strength. I'm trying to build on those strength gains in my current rotation.

Are any of them total body workouts and do you think any of them would work as stand alone heavy weight workouts? I'm not interested in doing a BB rotation but might consider doing one as a total body strength workout (my husband has the set but hasn't done a rotation yet).

There are two: Total Body Workout is part of the package and Lucky 7 is a bonus if you order from a coach or at the Beachbody site (I think?) I confess that I haven't done either. They are on the short side for total body workouts, 38 minutes and 23 minutes. The reviews at one of my favorite workout blogs, http://dumbbellsanddiapers.com/bodybeast, make it sound like both are fast-moving weights circuits instead of slower training.

I love that website! I read her reviews of Lucky 7's and Tempo and paired with the printed worksheets I don't even feel the need to purchase these two workouts separately.

I may actually be taking a rest day tomorrow and starting BB on Tuesday. My upper body is still sore from RWH upper body on Saturday and my lower body is a bit sore from Cathe's Afterburn today!

Lovya, Im just finished week one of the last block and I love this set. I did Total Body for the first time today and really liked it alot. It has a cardio effect but Beast Cardio is a Hiit style workout and I beyond love it. Its a sweatfest that flies by and has the best moves. Everytime I do it I can't believe how much I love it.

Oh I would def do a check-in with you guys!
