I am in almost exactly the same position due to an injury last year and I am intending to build back up to where I was in lifting but in the meantime and enjoying Ellen type workouts and just being very consistent now. And, yea, I am getting definition, plus my arm is improving in its mobility and having less pain.

Just keep going.

Thank you all for the words of encouragement and the recomendations.

And Michele, GOD BLESS you for all you must have been through. Very inspiring that you have continued to work out through all of that.

My first thought was T-Tapp - Isometric exercise for the upper body...so you get to develop strength without lifting weights. Plus...it gets more intense the more you do it.

Hope you find something that works for you.

Pilates-based upper body workouts use only light weights (2-3 pounds), so you might consider those. They sometimes go to the floor, though, so you'd have to modify/skip those moves. Jennifer Kries's Target Specifics and Precision Pilates have upper-body focused sections. Target Specifics Plus also has an upper-body segment.

Awwww... you're so sweet!

For me, exercising has been about taking control of what I can control. I can't do anything about having (had!) cancer and all of the treatments. But, I can do my best to eat right (whatever that means!) and exercise. And, frankly, accomplishing exercise in the face of adversity, is motivation in itself.

So... don't worry about what you *can't* do. Do what you *can* and you'll reap the benefits.

Actually I meant that for the OP as well as you. I was in a hurry and should have elaborated more. It says it is designed to facilitate movement in the upper body so I thought it might work for her too..
