I am reading Alice Hoffmans The Marriage of Opposites. I just got on my library's reserve list for the new Jojo Moyes coming out this month. I am number 66. If you are a fan check with your library.

Phyllis- I preordered the new JoJo Moyes from Amazon. The library wait will be really long.

Eta: my library has not even ordered it!

I've begun the new Louise Penny, The Nature of the Beast.

I'm also in the midst of a Fringe dvd marathon at my house, so the reading is taking a back seat for a while, but the book is a good one.

Definitely glad I caved and bought my own copy. I'd still be waiting on the queue at the library, they've only got one copy.

I just finished, "Body of Truth: Change Your Life by Changing the Way You Think about Weight and Health" which was a very interesting book that discusses being realistic about weight loss/maintenance and also addresses how much time and energy we spend on changing our body size/weight.

I am reading, "The Red Notebook" right now. I like it so far, but I'm pretty picky with fiction, so we'll see.

Reading Under the Banner of Heaven by Krakauer. Since I'm pretty familiar with the history of the LDS (Mormon) religion, some of this is a slog. He switches back and forth between the LDS history, the history of some of the fundamental LDS sects and a murder and sometimes I couldn't remember who was who when he talked about people.

Didn't feel great on Sunday so read some mind candy- Cover of Night by Linda Howard, a somewhat preposterous romance/thriller heavy on the fantasy that people in western states are all rugged, gun toting and self sufficient. (nothing wrong with those traits, but from experience, it's a fantasy). And a novella Last Chance Lassiter by Paul Levine. Levine is a mystery writer and a screenwriter for NCIS (?). Lassiter is your typical Spencer type PI. Levine had all of his books on Amazon for free when he first got his rights to them back. Terrible covers but pretty good mysteries of a specific genre and most were previously published and professionally edited. Something so very much missing on newer books published under Amazon's imprints.

I really wish Amazon would get better editors instead of pumping out so many almost really good books. I don't even bother with their new first program for the most part. The books are just not very good, and many of them could have been so much more with traditional editing.

I read it several years ago for a book club. I didn't know anything about the LDS church so it was a real eye opener and learning experience for me.

I also read Krakauer's Into Thin Air about the fated 1996 Everest expeditions. Wow, amazing what some people will voluntarily put themselves through! I guess I just have a major sense of self preservation, lol, aka the chicken factor!

I'm starting The Girl in the Spider's Web that picks up with Lizbeth Salander from The Dragon Tattoo books. I hope the new author can continue the series successfully.
