My polar RS300x do it once you set it. The other high models from the brand have the feature too. I also have a FT40 and this one don't have this feature. You can check Polar watch specifications on their webpage.

There are many Polar models. When I selected mine, I was very confused about which was right for me. I ended up calling their customer service and the agent did a great job of helping me figure out the model that did what I wanted (without having to buy one that did way more than I wanted). If you get confused trying to pick the right one, I suggest you try giving customer service a call.

(Also, there is another recent post that mentions that the FT7 is glitchy. Check out that thread before you buy)

Is there a decent heart rate monitor at all that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? My needs aren't much - something that accurately monitors my HRM and gives me an estimated calorie count. That's all. Nothing big.

I've tried a couple and none have functioned well. The cheap Timex ($50) was probably the best, but I sweat a lot when working out and it just stops counting my heart rate once I'm soaked. It's annoying as hell to be working out at 160 BPM and look at my wrist and have the damn thing telling me I'm working at 115. Grrr...

I've tried a couple of other models and they haven't worked worth a damn either. The strapless ones are absolutely worthless IMO and some of the others are too intermittent. So I don't wear one anymore. I'd like to train a few times with one because I tend to go too hard, especially with my cardio. There's little doubt that my heart rate is always over 150 when I'm jogging (and probably rides around 160). One of these days I want to try to keep it in the 140s, where it's supposed to be.
