DDP Yoga

I heard this guy talking on Coast to Coast AM radio last night. Fascinating story about how he healed himself of a back injury using a hybrid style of yoga he invented. Now he has a whole business.

Diamond Dallas Page originally developed DDP Yoga for athletes like himself who had suffered years of injuries due to high-impact sports. For the first 42 years of his life, Dallas was a guy who "wouldn't be caught dead" doing Yoga, or anything like it. But DDP Yoga Ain't Your Mama's Yoga! It combines the very best of traditional yoga, old-school calisthenics, sports rehabilitation therapy, and dynamic resistance to create one of the most effective fitness plans in existence today, that anybody can do!

I had DDP Yoga one year and did do the rotation. It is a solid strength based yoga program. I liked doing it and did get crazy strong with it. IMHO, the program is lacking in recovery workouts. It is a great program though. It has a special appeal to guys and people in general who dislike whatever preconceived notions they have about yoga. DDP renames a lot of the poses, etc.

I really love yoga and wanted to like this, but tensing up during the workout to get my heart rate high was awful for me. I’m already tense I don’t need to force myself into more.

I feel the same way so I just do it without the tensing. I really like the ones I have done.
