A lot of my parents’ and grandparents’ generation grew up hearing this, it wasn’t just for lifters. A big glass of milk with every meal was standard.

I was raised this way. My brothers, when they were teenagers, went through a gallon a day. I, however, stopped drinking milk when I discovered it came from smelly, fly-ridden cows. Interestingly enough, that didn't stop me from eating cheese or ice cream.

I loved it, thank you!

I don't know about eating rare beef for breakfast, squab and game for dinner and a porterhouse and eggs for supper (dang) though. I wonder how many calories in a day Josephine Blatt tucked in?

PS how did Lionel Strongfort keep that fig leaf in place?
