Delayed Deliveries?

I am an Amazon Prime member and I placed an Amazon order for two items on Sunday. The original delivery date was supposed to be today (both items were Prime eligible and in stock, so normally I would have gotten them by last Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest). Now, when I go to Amazon's page, they tell me delivery will be tomorrow before 8:00 p.m. But UPS keeps sending me delivery updates via email and the last email they sent says to expect delivery on Monday.

So--is anyone else having delivery delays? I guess this is the new normal for the time being and we all need to plan ahead?

I am not surprised your delivery is delayed. I think this will be the new normal with so many people ordering online. I ordered a few things from Amazon and I'm also a prime member, but I selected the slow delivery as they aren't really items I need right away. I would hate to be a warehouse worker right now as I imagine they are slammed.

I read they are prioritizing delivery for health related items. I will try to find the article.

Yes. Amazon is also encouraging those that can to take advantage of the "no rush shipping" (which I often do anyway because they usually offer $1 towards future digital purchases).

Yes, I ordered three things from Prime and none of them got two-day delivery. For one I selected "no rush" but the others are 4-7 days. I'm not surprised. The increase in volume of orders must be immense, and there are things that really need to go through immediately (medical items). I know places are hiring delivery drivers and warehouse workers, but I expect it to get worse rather than better, as some of those workers will get sick. The good thing is that it's employment for people who were laid off or getting zero hours because their employers are closed.

I am, but not with Amazon. I placed a Chewy order for my pets and while they normally ship out the next business day, they said it could take up to 8 business days right now. I also believe this will be the new normal for a while as every business deals with the influx of online orders all at once.

there was an article that came on my feed early last week that Amazon is hiring 100,000 workers to manage the supply chain.

I ordered a few things from Amazon. One of them was going to 6 days. They surprised me by delivering 2 days early. Other normal 2-day items were promised and delivered in 3. I think this is the new normal. I imagine that it could get worse, too. I am temporarily in a rural area so I don't know how that will affect deliveries either.
