Shelley, I've been stewing on this one all day, too, and have pretty much come up with the same conclusion as you. I really felt like our intelligence was insulted. Gosh, at least she could have done was wait until her certifications arrived in the mail to post all of her accomplishments. The sad thing is that Wendilee could get a gazillion certifications, but if she doesn't improve her counting skills, her form and camera presence, nothing will change. This is really the areas that she needs to concentrate on. Edit: I've given up trying to get my hubby to stop eating a whole roll of Orea cookies after dinner, so I've now declared that Orea cookies have healing powers. I'm sure his knee will be feeling better within a week.

I remember paying loads of money for a "correspondence course" to get certified. They sent me a tiny little booklet along with a test to fill out and mail in. Open book test, 10 lessons. I didn't need the book. I went through the lessons like they were a true/false test and no matter what you put would, in a way, be a correct answer. I sent everything back to them and got my money back. I was only 17 at the time but I could see that it would be worthless. I haven't had a chance to see the IFA certification tests but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a lot easier to pass than my correspondence course. What I'd like to see is if Wendilee could pass the IFAA or ACE certification. |

I think this thread actually educated me. When I first read about Wendilee's certifications, I was going to compliment her on how much energy she has and was going to say that she was taking a step in the right direction. I was thinking that not only does she produce so many workouts but she spent time studying for her certifications. I didn't know organizations like IFA existed.

[QUOTE=Joe]I've been thinking about doing this myself! Just take a test to show your knowledge and immediately you're indoctrinated.
I was married by someone who did this We really wanted a good friend to do it, so he went online and became a preacher. He didn't even have to take a test or pay money. He did send them $25 and they sent him a fancy certificate and all. We made sure it would be legal before he did it, and the state would allow it, and there was no problem. I wanted desperately for him to say "By the power vested in me by the World Wide Web" but he refused. By the way, I think I can claim to have been here long enough, and visited enough forums on other boards, to know what nasty is, and this isn't it. I promise. Also remember, any publicity is good publicity. How many of us have seen these threads and went to her site to check it out? Some may have seen pictures or what have you and left, but I know she's sold some workouts and maybe gotten some fans from people wondering what all the fuss is about. It's when they stop talking about you that you have to worry. Ask almost any former child star.

Wondering?
Thanks Shelley for the clarification. I will not assume that she changed anything then. I take back any comment that related to that since i did not see anything change.
I only saw the list of certifications on the "About Wendilee' page, which included the Pre/Post Natal Fitness and Children's Fitness which I really doubt now. Nothing had a source when I looked. If anyone knows who Wendilee is certified by to teach Yoga, Pre/Post Natal Fitness and Children's Fitness, please do post. It is pretty easy for ua as all the other instructors as their credentials are clearly listed at Collage or their own websites. "Keli Roberts Qualifications: IDEA's 2003 Fitness Instructor of the Year. Certified by ACE, AFAA and ISCA (International Sports Conditioning Association). Gold Certified Personal Trainer through ACE. 3 Star IDEA International Presenter." "Cathe is an ACE and Body Pump certified instructor." "Mindy Mylrea is the 1999 International IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year, a National and World Aerobic Champion, a sponsored athlete, and a five star presenter for IDEA. She is an advisory board member, an international presenter, author, motivational speaker, video personality, and CEC provider." Since Wendilee clearly announced that she was recertified, I am wondering if she ever was certified by ACE. PT alone without group Fitness, Kickboxing, Sports Nutrition, Step Training etc. is a exam you have to study for with ACE. It was supervised, timed, etc. and while not deathly, was not a joke like the questions on that online test. Hmmm.... Deb |
