Oh, Thank you Jackie! Your classes sound just like what I'm looking for! If only I lived closer to you.

I may be in your area for work in Sept/Oct. If it works out, I'll contact you for a space in one of your classes.

Until then, it's back to the DVDs. Just finished Meg's Total core. Efficient and so well cued!

Quick question...how often should we do essentrics to get most out of it?

I'm just loving these workouts and would really prefer to learn the technique in person, but there are no local Essentrics/Classical Stretch classes that I can find in my area.
I agree with Jackie, live classes bring a whole new demension to the workouts. I've gone to several classes with a level 4 instructor, but it's a two hour drive & my class times often conflict with hers. I learn a lot about form & cuing from her.

I also went to the Midwest Getaway in Tulsa last fall, an Essentrics weekend organized by Jackie & two other Level 4 instructors. I learned so much from them! I agree that the interaction with other students is fun. That was especially so in Tulsa where people came from all over.

My classes are an hour, but I'm a real newbie beside Jackie. I teach more Toning based prechoreographed workouts, my students are mid 60s fit women. My classes are small as I teach at home. I do correct my students occasionally, usually by cuing everyone, but sometimes individually. It's almost always for bending forward in neutral C.

Compared to BSS2, an hour toning class would include more of everything - standing trademarks, arm work, floor toning, & stretching. Sahra's Full Body Toning is almost identical to the class a level 1 apprentice instructor teaches for certification. It's a great class, but it is challenging. I haven't taught any Aging backwards classes.

You should definitely get to Jackie's class, she is an awesome instructor!

Do you think you can double up on the Body Sculpting 2 workouts? There seems to be some overlap with some the workouts and I didn't want to overdo. So far I am really loving these - I definitely workup a good sweat with these.

Thanks.

I would say three times a week. I generally do 5 or 6 times a week. With so many being 30 min or less, they are easy to fit in. What say you Jackie?

I have the streaming but just got around to doing the lower body/calorie burn with Gail (not sure what it's called on the DVD). Sore today! I wish it had a longer stretching segment at the end, but overall a nice challenge.

Any word on/if when Sahra will be doing any Essentrics workouts or just teacher training?

I wish I lived closer to Jackie as well. I would love to go to a live class. The closest to me is over an hour away. I keep checking the web site to see if there are new instructors in the area.

I do CS almost every day. If I do a 30 min class I might add a 25 mins CS class to it or add walking, biking, yoga etc.

Thanks Pam! I really appreciate you also writing back about the difference between a live class and the dvd.

I tried Sahra's Full Body Toning today. Loved this one too. I enjoy all the Essentrics dvd's I've tried, but find the instructors on BSS2 easiest to follow.

I keep reading how wonderful essentrics is. I have tried 2-3 times but just can't get into it. Maybe I am not getting the full theory behind it. I like Sahra more than Miranda and I keep thinking maybe if I try the new ladies I will like it.

Why do I do this to myself?

Why all the crunches?

I have only recently begun getting into Essentrics and surprisingly have been enjoying Sahra’s workouts much more than Miranda’s (thought it would be the other way around). However, there is one major bugbear I have and that is the use of crunches and various crunch variations for the abs workouts. I don’t think there is a place for crunches in this style of workout and am mystified by their inclusion. I don’t do crunches anymore and haven’t for years as I thought their effectiveness for strengthening and toning abs had been questioned. Do the new workouts include crunches? Can anyone enlighten me as to why they are used in Essentrics?
