Flip phone here, also. I work out from my computer.

I also still have a flip phone. You are not alone! My dh and son have smartphones, though.

I hook my phone up to my tv using an HDMI cable. In my case, the phone has a USB type C port so I use a cable that is called a USB type C to HDMI. You use what ever type of charging cable port your phone uses on one end and the other end of the cable hooks up to the HDMI port on the TV. Or you can get an adapter and use teh cable syou already have. I am sure people at local Target or Best Buy stores can help you find the cable if you show them you phone.

Also, I like using tablets/iPads if I am not hooking up to a TV.

Many of the workout apps don't work on my phone and I've thought about upgrading my phone but don't want to workout looking at a tiny screen (compared to my TV screen in my workout room). Please enlighten me.
Not at all embarrassing. Even though I know I'm probably missing out on a lot of potential content, I hate the idea of working out with a small screen or relying on my unreliable internet to stream something because it hasn't gone well for me in the brief time I tried it in the past! Give me old school DVDs any day. Or the occasional YouTube workout which I can get on my TV but only when my internet cooperates.

I usually "sync" or "cast" to a media stream device that is hooked up to my TV. So, if I'm doing a Cathe On Demand workout, I play it through my iPhone through Google Chrome attached to my big screen TV. If I'm doing a YouTube video, same thing. Hope that makes sense.

Well my phone is one better than a flip phone but not much! I don't even know what an HDMI cable is and still don't know what an android phone vs an iphone vs a smart phone vs whatever!!

Other than other workout options such as CatheLive for instance and saving space from not having dvds, are there any other pluses to streaming that I'm missing?

Thanks for your responses and not making me feel totally stupid!

I have no new insight about the situation itself (Chromecast here), but I agree completely that this question isn't at all embarrassing. (I'd also hate to think that people hesitate to ask technical questions--or other questions--because of potential embarrassment. Ask away! There already exists a phrase like "the only stupid question is the one that you don't ask." I'm not sure if I'd totally agree with its literal truth , but I like its spirit. )

Yes!!! I for one appreciate this thread because I hesitated to ask something on another thread for this very reason! People were suggesting Cathe's live workouts, but I wouldn't even know where to begin to make that work...like, is it an app on my TV or Xbox I can install? Do I have to hook up a computer or am I supposed to work out with my teeny tiny phone screen??

I'm also curious, if you like several instructors, and all of those instructors offer streaming subscriptions you have to pay monthly for, well...doesn't that get costly? I'm just wondering what people are doing as far as that goes and yes, I too wonder what I'm missing by not partaking in all the streaming options!

I think Cathe's app is available through Roku and I think even through Amazon Fire tv streaming.

I have a yearly subscription to FitFusion, because that's where the BeMax workouts are. It's less than $90 and I don't buy DVDs anymore, because they no longer make FIRM DVDs. So the FitFusion subscription is my only workout expense.
