I just finished listening on Audible to The Opposite of Everyone by Joshilyn Jackson. It's an excellent story with believable characters featuring some very complicated mother-child relationships, confounded by guilt, self-deception which was justified by mystical beliefs. The mother, Kai, was interesting and somewhat familiar I think to a baby boomer generation. Daughter and main protagonist Paula (aka Kali) was a strong fierce warrior of a woman dealing with the detritus left from her mother's loving, self-centered style and ultimate desertion. There were a number of surprises along the way, and a perfect wrap-up. The writing was beautiful, and I really didn't want it to end. I'm feeling at loose ends now, which often happens when I finish a book I truly enjoy!
