Same reason as the TP, more or less. People are afraid they'll be housebound with not enough and will therefore be knee-deep in poop.

It seems most of the panic buying revolves around poop!

I remember when I was a kid in the 60’s and 70’s, we would dig up sand from the alley for my cat’s litter box. Hard to believe, now that I think about it. But we lived in the desert, so there was plenty of sand around.

I did find some at Walmart today. So we’re good for awhile. It’s cheaper at Costco, but the line was too long.

We have an order placed to pick up at Walmart tomorrow. Already some things disappeared from our cart. Yet, it seems there is no shortage of milk or wine.

I'll try adding in oatmeal, and frozen veg again tomorrow.

I don't want the Walmart app. When they email that the order is ready can't you just go over and get it? Or, call?

I don’t know how Walmart works, but when I order from my grocery store I have to chose a date & specific 2 hour time window for pick up.

It’s a challenge! I have a huge order for DH to pick up tomorrow. They were so booked up that I had to select my date & time 2 weeks ago. I started my order then to save the time slot and have been slowly adding to it since.

I do the same. I wear a mask and do my own shopping. Stores around us are pretty well stocked with everything (including cat litter) but produce has been a little tired-looking lately.

I've been ordering from my local Kroger, both pick up and delivery for years. I looked at delivery, but they've recently changed the way they handle it, and it now wants you to sign up for an Instacart account.
I see on here that people have good things to say about them, but a relative on the mainland used them a week ago, and got badly overcharged, substitutions she didn't agree to, naturally some things were out of stock, and she couldn't get anybody to answer her phone calls to find about refunds on the overcharges. I looked at the BBB and that seems to be happening very frequently.
I placed a delivery thru a different store that doesn't force Instacart on you.

DH picked up our Walmart order this morning. They had most of the items we wanted. There were a couple of substitutions that were fine with us.

They asked him about the app check-in and he showed them his antique flip phone. (You can just imagine them saying, "OK, Boomer!" under their breath.) I'll get the Walmart app on my iPhone for next time.

We had a little trouble organizing our online cart and ended up with a LOT of wine.

Thanks for all the advice and tips.
