HRM watch/fitness tracker for very small wrists?

I've gone through many Polar HRMs over the years and am now considering an inexpensive fitness tracker/watch which will give fairly accurate BPMs. I'm not interested in other features, except possibly quality (not just hours) of sleep.

My problem is that I have very small wrists -- exactly 5". I wonder, first of all whether the watch-type would be better since it seems to me that the tracker-type being slim and long, might stick out on either side of my wrists.

Any advice, recommendations, or thoughts?

My wrists are a smidge over 5". I wear a Fitbit Charge 2 and don't find it to be clunky or uncomfortable. I wear my Polar HRM or Garmin Vivoactive (both with chest straps) for workouts, depending on whether I'm indoors or out. For a while I recorded stats from everything and most of the time the Fitbit was pretty close on heart rate when compared to the other two. Those were all manually recorded (start button pushed like typical HRM). The Fitbit autorecords my dog walks and sometimes those HR readings can be wildly off (it recently showed my max HR at 153 but I'm lucky if I ever hit 130 on dog walks). I still wear a high-quality old school pedometer as well and while there are days the Fitbit is really close or sometimes higher than the pedometer, it's pretty typical that it's around 1000 steps lower. The Charge 2 also records your sleep and shows the time in each sleep stage and now also gives a sleep quality score. I don't know if they still make the Charge 2, but I've had mine for almost 2 years and for a wrist tracker have been pretty much happy with it. HTH!

Vantreester, I'm glad the Fitbit Charge 2 is not clunky on you and knowing that helps to give me an idea of the size of these trackers. Thank you for this info! However, since I'm mainly interested in just being able to see my bpm as I work out, I don't want to go over $50.

I don't blame you for that, Judith. Good luck finding one! I'd be curious to know if you find one under $50. My Polar and Garmin were both more than that too.

Fitbit doesn't make the Charge 2 anymore. Their basic HRM now is the the Inspire HR (and there's also a version without the HRM for $69.95) and it has a thinner strap than the Charge 2 did, similar to the Alta (which has also been discontinued). It's $99.95. The Charge 3 is $149.95.

Man, it seems like they discontinue things quickly now!
