I never heard of this show so read a whole Wikipedia article about the story and its characters. The description makes it seem *very* soap opera-ish, totally not my thing. But I'm willing to watch a few episodes since Sherry recommends it.

One of the last family comedy-dramas I remember really loving was Dead Like Me. (I watched it years after its original airing.) But that was about so many things.

On that same day, a black baby is left at the doorstep of a fire station. One of the firefighters takes the baby to the hospital where the triplets were born. Still feeling that they were supposed to be parents to three babies, Jack and Rebecca adopt the other baby. The series follows Jack and Rebecca and the kids, but goes back and forth in time, at times focusing on young Jack and Rebecca and other times the grown up kids. All of the characters are flawed but lovable and the acting and writing is wonderful. The "time traveling" is not as confusing or distracting as it sounds.

I just love this show (enough to try to write a synopsis about it!) and I'm usually not a fan of "family dramas".
Thanks Zoegirl!

So glad we have This is Us, we were sorely missing a family drama. Every drama these days seems to be medical, police, law, or involve something supernatural.

I watched and loved all of theses shows, every episode!

This Is Us
Nashville
thirtysomething (before we had a VCR so I had to stay up until 11 p.m. way too late for me)
Once and Again
A Year in the Life
My So Called Life

I also really enjoyed
Sisters
Relativity
Felicity
My Life and Times (amazing short lived show, starred Helen Hunt and Tom Irwin who was the dad on My So Called Life)
Parenthood
Brothers and Sisters

I am counting down until the episode tonight. The last episode was brutal.

Just finished watching tonight. I think the finale next week is going to be another brutal one.

I love the show also, and watch it with my daughter. We missed most of it, so I bought the first season on Amazon for $18.99. Not a bad price, and we just wait one day for the next show. It's nice to watch without commercials.

I like all of the female characters, even Rebecca. However, I do like young Rebecca more than her older self.

Next week ought to be an emotional doozy.
