That's amazing! Good for you, and glad you weren't more injured!
I have two similar tales to tell, if I may:
- a couple of years ago, I was wearing heels on a polished concrete floor, took a corner too quickly, slid, and fell down hard on one leg. I swear it was my workouts and fitness level that saved me from worse injuries--I had enough balance to sort of stabilize myself during the fall, land on a large muscle instead of spraining a tiny area like a wrist or ankle, and wound up with nothing but a bruise.
- my aunt-in-law has been a fitness and activity fan most of her life--very active, in good shape, and does a lot of functional activities and golfing into her mid-70s. She suffered a bout of cancer recently that was described as dire with the potential that she wouldn't survive the summer. Well, not only is she still with us, but her tumors are diminished so much that she can stop chemo already, after only a few months. I firmly believe that her healthy habits saved her life.
