HBO's The Weight of the Nation

Over the past few days I've been watching the 4 part series ' The Weight of the Nation' on HBO. If you are able to watch it I couldn't recommend it more highly. It is by far the most comprehensive look at the obesity epidemic, the causes, the costs, the options, and the outlook that I have come across. While at times it can be pretty depressing there have been great segments on the benefits of exercise, the creativity of small farmers, and the innovations some cities are embarking on.

If you ever question the significance of small choices you'll feel wonderfully validated. And I've learned a ton of information that will help me as I move forward.

Watch it if you can!

I recently lost a dear brother to type 2 diabetes. I watched him suffer with this disease that many people take so lightly. Diabetes is no joke, it's a slow killer

This film strikes home with me....this is the number 1 reason I workout and workout hard. Looking good in my clothes is secondary or just icing on the cake. Working out has really benefited my health..just a few years ago I use to have high blood pressure. My DR threaten to put me on blood pressure Med. (148/80) At my last check up (4 weeks ago) my blood pressure was 113/70. I was able to control my pressure just with exercise and of course healthy nutrition. Exercise may not be the cure all but it's sure helped me. I want to be in the 20% population of Americans that is NOT obese and who lives an active live style.

Beah - I'm sorry to hear about your brother.

But that's great about your blood pressure - you're a shining example of the benefits of exercise!
