Ham Help! Brand? Spiral? Cooking?

We plan to have ham for the family Christmas get together. I'm hoping for some Ham Help.
Any recommendations on good brands or one's to avoid?

Spiral is more convenient but is it less likely to be dry not getting it spiral cut?

Best way to warm it without it drying out? Oven? Or would a Nesco be better? Temp and time?
Thanks!

Spiral sliced honey-glazed hams

We had ham on Thanksgiving (because we had celebrated twice!) and I really enjoyed the Trader Joe's spiral sliced uncured honey-glazed ham DH bought.

It did take more prep than a Honey-Baked Ham(R), LOL. It had to be warmed in a low-heat oven for an hour, then I had to boil up the glaze ingredients for 5-10 min in a saucepan. Poured that on the warm ham and cooked for 15 min at a high heat to get the glazed coating. So all in all, plan 1.5-2 hrs before the meal for a larger ham.

But it was delicious! We don't have a Honey-Baked Ham store nearby and have found that their quality has diminished (while the price has gone up) so we tried out TJ's ham.

I'd buy it again in a minute. And now we are making ham & bean soup with the leftovers!

We had a dinner at church and I brought a Smithfield boneless spiral sliced ham. There was glaze that I put over it. I did not try it, so I personally cannot comment. But a week later people were asking what brand it was because it was so good. I was not aware that Trader Joe's had the uncured hams mentioned above. That one sounds good.

Anyone remember the Ham in a can? I think its Hormel brand. I saw this in the Ham section of Walmart. My Grandma used to always buy these for Holidays and occasions, she'd put it on a plate and pour her homemade brown sugar glaze on it, I think I remember it being yummy but this is when I was a small girl. I'm going to buy one and have it for dinner one of these days, in memory of my Grandma.

Sorry I'm not much help but since we're talking Ham, I thought I'd share a memory!

I remember buying those years ago. There were multiple brands. I thought they were good. You could even have the butcher slice it for you. Ahhh - simpler times!

if you're a costco or sam's member, they might have this. you might need to order/reserve in advance, though, so talk to their meat dept.

my mom is retired military, and she orders the bone in ham, and OMG.... tender and juicy. that might be an option if you have access to the military commissary. if not, Safeway or your local grocer might have this for order.

I don't know specific brands, but I did a maple cured spiral ham last Christmas and it was delicious. My supermarket had a variety to choose from. They all come with seasoning and directions. I don't think you can go wrong with a spiral ham.
