Do you ever feel out of the VF loop?

I've only been lurking on VF for the past 3-4 months, whereas I was an active member for years before that. My teaching load and professional commitments were beyond crazy this semester so I changed my workouts as a coping mechanism. I just could not think while working out; I needed to zone out and relax. So I rode the spin bike for 4-5 times a week watching my DVR and catching up on shows. I lifted weights a little on my own. Now the semester's over and I've decided I need to recommit to my previous fitness lifestyle and have started doing videos again. Feels great by the way. Mind and body are together focused on the workout which helps so much. I'm reading threads again with renewed interest too.

The problem is I feel so out of it on VF. I don't even recognize the bandwagons or infomercials. For that matter, there's lots of new "faces" I don't recognize either. I go to the swap and realize all my possible trades are "oldies". CIA 26xx, who knew?

Ever feel that way?

I always feel that way. I'm not into any of the newer sexy workouts or powerhouses: Turbo Jam, FIRM, Cathe, Amy Bento, TLTs, Mindy, P90X, advanced obscure yoga videos.....Did I leave out anything? ....But I need the motivation to stick with my currently somewhat meager workout schedule. So I still come, and chime in when there is a topic not related to the latest workout phenom. And maybe someday I'll tackle a Cathe video (the strength training, anyway--I'm pretty happy with keeping my cardio simple...for now)!!

Kathy, just think how much money you saved being out of the loop.

I just wanted to welcome you back.

Just jump on in and meet some of the new faces. Check out the Challenges and Check-ins board, I "met" most of the people I usually talk about workouts with on check-ins that match my workout tastes. I had also felt out of the loop until joining a check-in.

Or conversely, how many new things you have to buy!

I totally feel out of the loop.

I used to be here much more, but lately I just lurk once or twice a day now.

I don't have most of the newer videos, so I don't have any imput.

I also find that I like to do older videos, which really isn't talked about much here.

I also don't want to get onto the bandwagons, because I really think my video obession has gotten way out of hand and I've spent too much money. Now I only buy my videos at thrift stores and garage sales(or at least try-I went to Ross last week ),which are usually really old videos anyhow.

I feel more like I'm on the side lines watching everyone by. I need to get back into race. I want to try so many workouts, but have very little time right now.

I think it is great to talk about older workouts and I for one would appreciate it. I just got REALLY into videos (after coming to VF) about a year ago and I love when I find out about cool older stuff that I missed because it is either cheap or easy to swap for.

Welcome back!

Heck, just start a thread about an oldie but goodie. I started a thread about PowerMax last month and LOTS of people enjoyed revisiting that one.

I tend to enjoy my oldies more too.
