Where has Wendy spoken (and I'm assuming you're referring to WWWendy?) I'd like to know what she said...

Amy, wondering if I'm clueless

Hi

Yes, I did make a decision to not allow archiving (and have code to that affect). I'm not entirely sure why Google is still bringing up some stuff, though.

I have a lot of reasons, ranging from the fact that the majority seem to prefer it to the fact that I use my real name here, but I don't plan to change my policy on this issue.

In case anyone thought otherwise: No post of mine was any attempt to get WWWendy or any other applicable person to change VF policy on this score, and I respect the reasons that others have written in this thread.

I'm OK with being in the minority. In fact, if I didn't get the impression that I needed to explain some points from my "side" (if we must have sides), I wouldn't have posted in the first place.

I was looking at old threads and found this one. Now that VF search hasn't been working consistently for months, I'm glad that forum posts aren't totally blocked from the outside, or slse we'd really have trouble finding old threads. (When the VF search was working lucidly for a brief period recently, I compared it to some search engines. When it works, the VF search works much better. I found some threads that I thought had been deleted!)

I have more thoughts that I'll probably post later, but the gist is my views from 18 years ago haven't substantially changed, and I wish that this forum had taken a far different course.

i use Google to search for subject matter in VF all the time. I'm glad it's still available, especially in these tenuous times with the forum.
