Yesterday I did Eoin Finn's "Just Do This Yoga" from his Blissology YouTube channel. I was a little surprised that he included crow in such a short practice, but it was nice overall.

Today I want to give Erich Schiffman's Lotus a try. Sometimes I can briefly get into lotus on one side with this...we'll see. I also want to meditate in my office this morning, probably using this Yoga with Tim practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_0Yqsi9X9o&t=12s

Day 18:

meditation
Yoga Upload restorative practice with a bolster

Day 19:
Yoga with Adriene "Stretch" from her new 30 day series. I did not really care for this one, and stopped after 20 minutes. Oh, well. I will do meditation later.

Have a good day-
Sherry

~Yoga Collective: Front to Back - This was very nice....all standing poses with long holds & attention to form

Beth - Did you enjoy Lotus? I find lotus easier to do at the wall, that’s the only way I’ve gotten into full lotus but it’s been a while. Not sure I could do it now, lol. Speaking of Erich, I want to do Yoga Mind & Body, it’s a classic fave of mine.

Goodnight all!

Pam, yes, Lotus felt good on my hips, although I may be sore today! I didn't make it into full Lotus, but that's fine with me; I figure just the practice of trying to get there is good to keep my hips mobile, especially as I get older. Were you doing the headstand practice pre-sadhana, or is that a sadhana goal for you?

Sherry, I like some practices from YwA, but I can get bored or fed up with her chatter, so sometimes I abort like you did.

Pat, say more about how that back practice was different!

I've themed the yoga class I'm teaching tonight around Dr. Fishman's 12 Yoga Postures for Osteoporosis; we'll see how that goes! I actually want to try to do more standing yoga practices during this sadhana. I love yin and restorative, and after a long day at work, I'll often choose a practice that just has me lying on the floor. Also, I'm not a big fan of vinyasa flow, so sometimes I'll avoid standing practices for that reason...but other times when a practice is just holding triangle or warrior 2, I'll have an "ahhhh..." moment.

Day 16:

~ Gentle Core Awareness Pilates with Kit Rich;
~ Floor PT;
~ Tech Neck with Tias Little

Beth, I don't really feel the love for YWA either, she's kind of my Leslie Sansone of yoga. Standing poses were on my goal sheet for this sadhana but I've slipped back into floor yoga. There's still time!

Pam, I have Erich's lotus DVD and still need to try it. Now seems like a good time!

Keep up the good work everyone.

Day 20: Halfway point!
~Reading: The Daily Stoic, day 9
~headstand
~Legs up the wall

My active standing focus has been sidelined by my PT, getting some IMS dry needling treatments for my low back & PF issues. I shall follow instructions!

Beth - Wish I could go to your class! When I taught yoga, I used Fishman’s “Bone 12” in some of my classes & gave my students a handout about it. I am a hip opener junkie, always gravitate to hip focused practices.

Pat - Your Tech Neck practice sounds very nice!

Pat & Beth - Adriene is okay, but I also tend to prefer less chatter.

I wound up postponing the Fishman 12 practice...one of my students who is there almost every week wasn't there tonight, and I had said I would offer it for her specifically. So instead I continued with a theme I started before the holidays on the 4 Immeasurables from Buddhism. I did themed classes around the first two (metta/loving kindness and pali/compassion), so today we did mudita/sympathetic joy. Next week I'll either do the last one (equanimity) or go to the Fishman practice.

My personal practice today was a short offering from Yoga Journal's Foundations of a Home Practice, the energizing practice. And it was mostly standing...I'll have to try for more standing poses tomorrow!

Pam, sorry about the health issues!

Pat, LOL, I feel the same way about Leslie Sansone as I do about Adriene, which is that they are okay in small doses/on a limited basis.
