Workouts for Chronic Pain

For those of you who have a chronic pain issue (I have fibromyalgia), do you find slower, heavier strength training more beneficial to your body, or more reps, lighter weights?

I was looking back through workouts I completed this year and the impact it had on my body. It seems I do better with heavier weight training and low impact cardio. Though I would love to focus on more circuit/AWT for weight/fat loss, I wonder if I'm dis-servicing myself?

What has been your experience?

Chronic joint pain here though better in my 60's than previous decades.

Nothing lubricates my joints better than bouncing on a bungee rebounder. Using the upper body without weights while bouncing is about the best AWT. Also sitting and bouncing on a stability ball works well but still without weights because the GForce can make the lightest weight much heavier. Sometimes I use a band or Fitstix for more intensity when bouncing, never traditional weights.

Well I also have plantar fasciitis so my experience with rebounders now is NOT A GOOD one.

But I don't have a perfect mix of heavy versus light. I can say kettlebells helped a lot as did controlled flowy stuff, like Classical Stretch or yoga. Believe it or not Tracy Anderson's non-cardio stuff too. So for me I think it's about movement, but nothing remotely high impact, meaning not even my Needak and I refuse to pay more for a rebounder.

I solved my PF and bungee conflict with the Jumpsport Fitness Trampoline PRO 550F. No problem since switching to it
Its bounce is firmer without jarring.
