I've never gone, for two reasons. First, in my teens and 20s I worked for a neurosurgeon who often had patients come to him because they'd seen a chiro and still needed help. The chiro wasn't necessarily the one who caused the issues but didn't help them either.

Second, everyone i know who goes has to go often or at least repeatedly. From what I've heard, chiropractors "treat" an issue by "adjusting" a person's body and when it goes out of alignment (not sure exactly what that means) they have to do it again. I personally choose physical therapy. I do believe we go out of alignment in a way, specifically that we have and create imbalances, and PT addresses those. Yes you go for a while, but not for a lifetime, more like a few weeks.

+1.

an adjustment is a hammer, and everything is a nail, so to speak. i am naturally very flexible. the one time i went they were trying their darnedest to get a "crack" from my back and nothing happened while my torso was almost 180°! i had "female" issues when i was referred to them by my friend, and i should have been a little more skeptical about the chiro claiming he could treat female issues.

edited to add: it might work for some people.

I always found chiropractors helpful, but they will start you out 3 times a week, then 2 times a week, then 1 time a week, and after a few months maybe you'll be down to once every couple of weeks. With $50 co-pays it runs into money fast. You have to be willing to commit a fairly serious amount of time and money to get the benefit.
