Walking workout with no side steps

I love Leslie but I consider her workouts responsible for the severe pelvic pain that I suffered during pregnancy, which eventually rendered me unable to walk without crutches! It's my fault of course because side steps were contraindicated in my case, but I persisted because I thought that walking would help me deliver earlier

Is there any walking workout or other low impact cardio workout that doesn't include side steps? I am afraid I still have pain when I part my legs, 18 months now!

I am so sorry about your pain. Could you sub something else for side steps?

Cristina, I don't know of any walking workouts that don't include side steps, but Teresa Tapp's have the fewest of any I've done (Leslie, Denise Austin, George and Petra, Madeleine Lewis).

Hopefully walkers who are familiar with Debbie Rocker, Jessica Smith, and Kathy Smith walk workouts will chime in.

If you're able to do hamstring curls, they'd make a good substitute. And I wonder about grapevines--it seems to me they don't put quite so much pressure on the hip-pelvic area.

I just did a Leslie workout where I eliminated the side steps and kick backs - I just marched in place, or forward and back while keeping to the beat....sometimes I also threw in some kicks!

I only did this to see how it would register for my fitbit....

like others have mentioned, do the workout but sub in other moves:

knee ups (ala Lotte Berk)
lunges on floor
lunges onto a ramp or low step
alternating forward heel moves (tap 1 heel in front of you)
cha-cha's
front/forward chasse's
moonwalk (ala michael)
walk backwards

The Debbie Rocker walking workouts have the most just marching in place of any of the walking workouts I think. There is also the new KCM Home Gym Intervals workout where you could march in place for the cardio portions. Also, are you able to do step aerobics? When I had a groin injury I could do stepping because it's basically just up up - down down without too much lateral movement.

Thanks to Christina for asking this. Nothing causes pain in my hips like Leslie or any workout with side steps. I also appreciate all of the suggestions.

I was also going to suggest Debbie Rocker. However, it's been a while and there may be some side steps in them. I don't remember. If there are any, it's very few, so I think you'd be okay using her workouts.
