Anyone regret getting a firness tracker?

You ended up not using it, felt you wasted your money, found it oppressive or. . .

I ask because I'm on the fence - do I need it, will I use it?

I'm looking for motivation but do I really need a gadget for that?

Has it changed your life (in a good way)?

I never got one but decided to act like I had. When it's quiet at work I stand up and get some steps in.

I know someone who regretted it. She became obsessed with getting in "enough" activity, didn't enjoy exercise any more, and ended up getting injured.

I kind of have that problem with mine. No injury but I obsess over getting steps and "active" minutes.

Ditto. I still use mine occasionally, but not all the time.
EDIT - Since it only counts steps, it doesn't account for other forms of exercise and I do a lot of other activities like barre, Pilates, and swimming.

Nope. I'm on my 2nd Fitbit in the past 5 years and I like it a lot. I monitor my steps and floors daily, but I'm not obsessed by it. My Fitbit is just a tool that gives me an idea of how much I move throughout the day but I don't obsess if I don't get 10K steps a day. That said, I strive to achieve the 10K / 20 floors daily, but if I don't, that's OK too.

ETA: I'm not competitive by nature. I only do what I want to do and don't worry about the rest.

I know someone with a similar story. i don't think she became injured, but she definitely got very obsessive about it. She's very competitive by nature and was always trying to beat the friends she had on fitbit.

I love mine. I don't get obsessed with it. It does motivate me to get more steps into my day, but if I don't hit my target, I don't stress about it.

I bought it for work... We'll get $$ if we get to a certain number of points. TBH I'm all for the money! I'm now at $150, but going for the largest sum, $250. I have Fitbit Charge, and it over-count steps. I'm also a bit obsessed, but not unhealthy, I think.

I've been obsessed since I got my first pedometer about 12 years ago! I am lost without it. It's as much a necessity as my glasses almost!

I decided to not get a Fitbit. I like to track my workouts but also want to enjoy them...not get obsessed with them. I write my workouts on my calendar and count my walking and skiing. Just recently I deleted "Map my Walk" from my phone...I didn't like how it was telling me to get more activity in to reach my fitness goals.
