Kettlebells - upper body workout?

Hi:
I am expanding my collection to include kettlebells. They seem so lower-body focused, with inert arms while doing swings, etc.

Could anyone recommend a more total body kettlebell workout that works the upper body completely?

Thanks!

All of Lauren Brooks' and AOS's DVDs work the upper body completely. There are lots of cleans, presses, pushups, rows, planks, snatches, and even some isolation exercises thrown in there sometimes. AOS's Firepower seems a bit more upper body focused of all of them.

If you want a KB workout that has more isolation exercises, Kettlebell Bombshell has a great upper body workout. Here's the breakdown:

Upper body workout 2: - 22 minutes

Ladders of swings into burpees (w/pushups)
Repeat
Chest press
Triceps extension
Close grip tricep press
Pullovers
Half getups
Biceps curl/shoulder press/triceps press

Sunworshiper, have you seen Rozy's arms, from doing Kettlebell workouts? She has been doing AOS Newport, Extreme Kettlebell cardio, she and I are now doing the Skoggs system, check her blog.

KB's are without a doubt a full body workout. You simply have to forget about the notion of requiring isolation exercises to get a complete workout. LOTS of KB moves work the UB as well as the LB - you just aren't doing curls.

I took a private training lesson with Lauren and her arms look great. The only thing she told me she adds besides the kettlebell work is pull ups.

Thanks for responses. I don't want to lose my hard gained upper body strenght while doing kettlebells -- glad to see that won't be a problem.

Rozy is an inspiration!!

PS Tried to edit the typo in the thread title but couldn't figure out how to - sorry!

Click "edit" then "go advanced." This will allow you to change the wording in the title bar.

i like to mix in some bodyweight focused stuff like pushups in with my KB workouts. this is easier for me b/c i do them without a DVD but push ups, tricep dips, and pull ups are pretty easy to add onto any workout for a few sets in addition to clean/presses etc with a bell. you may not be getting that isolated focus with certain workouts but you can gain good strength. i gained more strength in my wrist since learning move like cleans and snatches, then i did with years of isolated wrist curls with dumbbells. i still like my weights too i just get creative.
